So my spoiler showed up today. I ordered it on eBay Wednesday, and it was on the porch Friday afternoon. Pretty cool. So I couldn't wait to install it...I prep everything, test for and noticed a slight gap just above and around the 3rd brake light, and along the upper rear window. No matter what I did to it, it just wouldn't fit flush. I went ahead and applied all the 3m, again after prep on the spoiler itself, and with my heat gun, warmed up all the tape a bit, then warmed the factory "spoiler" area a bit and installed the new spoiler. It looks fantastic, and I am amazed at just how ROCK SOLID the spoiler actually feels. Zero play, and I do not believe it will ever move. I have seen so many different factory items get installed per factory instructions with only 3M tape and have always been amazed how well it holds. Anyway, the very slight gap at the bottom if spoiler is still there, but I don't think it's an issue as it is so solid. It was very easy to install and took all of 30 minutes. Go for it, you won't regret it!

Nice job...looks great.
Did you find that you needed to add any 3M tape in additional areas?..or use thicker 3M tape?...I read from someone on here that they bought a thicker tape.
one last question... did you keep that blue tape on just to hold it down for awhile and for how long?
Thx.

I did use a wider tape from 3m. I used the thinner tape that was provided for all around the edges. I did add te wider stuff nearly everywhere else. I simply put the painters tape to hold it down over night just invade something wanted to pop up. I wasn't worried at all about it, just being overly cautious.

The very first link on the opening post is the spoiler I bought, but I also found it cheaper here : Ford Escape 2013 2014 Spoiler Painted - Spoiler and Wing King

image.jpgHere's my spoiler install. I used the 3m tape and 3m 5200 paste adhesive in spots for added insurance, and did not install the bolts.

Some people are addicted to drugs....some are addicted to mods. Now ask your wife, which is the less evil of the two haha.

I did the samething, used the blue painters tape over night. When i installed it, i did hold it on there for around 5 mins, putting my weight on the edges and such. Then added the blue tape.
