Interior lights all on

i recently got a 2015 SE and when the courtesy light come on, like after turning off the engine or opening a door, all of the interior are lit. I noticed on my friends 2014, the dome lights are different and there are options. I cant seem to find out how to turn it off. Any ideas?

On my '13 there's a button with a window icon that if pressed makes is so no lights come of in this situation. On a '14 Focus I looked at the button is in the center of the headliner, where most cars have a dome light, it had the said button and light

I looked. On the '15 model, there in no such button on the rear dome. The front dome light is now changed to two lights by the sunglasses holder.

Hey guys,

First of all, I want to say congrats and welcome to the forum, Richf4i! My name is Tricia, and I’m your U.S. Ford Customer Service rep. I’ll be here to assist if you ever have any questions or concerns.

Ok, now on to what you guys are discussing. This information can be found in the 2015 Escape Owner’s Manual. Take a peek at page 61, it states the following:

-Illuminated Entry
The interior lamps and select exterior lamps will illuminate when you unlock the doors with the remote entry system.
The illuminated entry system will turn off the lights if:
• you start your vehicle,
• you press the remote control lock
button, or
• after 25 seconds of illumination.
The lights will not turn off if:
• you turn them on with the lamp control,
or
• any door is open.

-Illuminated Exit
The interior lamps and select exterior lamps will illuminate when all doors are closed and you switch the ignition off.
The lamps will turn off if all the doors remain closed and:
• 25 seconds elapse, or
• you lock your vehicle from the outside.

-Battery Saver
If you leave the courtesy lamps or dome lamps on and switch the ignition off, the battery saver shuts them off after sometime.

The Owner’s Manual is also available online. Click here, find your vehicle, input the model year, and type in the page number I provided above.

Let me know if you need anything else, and have a great weekend!

Thanks for the welcome.

I did read that.. Hmmm... So there is no way to adjust this setting. I like the option that the 2014 model had. ok

I have a 2015 SE and cannot figure out how to turn on ALL of the interior lights via a dash switch like most other cars? All of the interior lights illuminate when opening a door or unlocking with remote but I only see the two ceiling buttons for the overhead lights while in a locked interior. Would be great to have the footwell and other lights illuminate while I am inside the car? Any suggestions?

Thanks

I just wish there was a way to turn on the rear light without turning on the front light. I've got kids, and it's nice for them to be able to read in the back seat. I've thought about ways to add reading lamps or something, but I've yet to come up with a good plan...

For mine, you just push the ceiling light on one side or the other and it comes on as a reading light.... not real obvious, so maybe your's does too>?

Sadly, my Escape (2013 SE, no sunroof) does not have buttons on the rear dome light. Only two "dead buttons" where the front has four.

The front dome light:
1. Front and rear dome lights on when door is open
2. Front and rear dome lights on (while door closed)
3. Driver's reading light on/off
4. Front passenger's reading light on/off.

And the rear dome just does what the front one says. On or off. Rear passengers never need to read, right? :/ I take it as a cost-savings for Ford (AKA "cheap")

I've wondered if it might be possible to replace the rear dome with a more functional dome light with reading light buttons. Probably wouldn't work.

It is quite common for auto makers to reserve upscale features for more premium trims, not just Ford. Not so much being cheap, but keeping the cost (and the selling price) of the car down. I've even found this (lack of rear reading lamps) on my Mercedes Benz.
