Navigation

If Sync/MyFord w/o navi is installed in a 2013, is that electronic hardware the same as the Sync/MyFord with navigation? If so then the navi version is a software upgrade?

No. If it isn't a FACTORY EQUIPPED nav car, you CANNOT add the OEM nav.

Haven't you asked this before?

You think that someone might actually try wording the same question differently to get a different result?

It is the same, software, however, this is done @ the mfg. plant, according to VIN number, the software for Nav is either activated or not, either you can find a 3rd party hacker that can break through the barrier, which I am sure would cost similar to have just purchased the navigation from the start.

Navigation installed???

Hello all
I've just got a new 2014 Escape SE. I didn't purchased the navigation system.
However, when I go into it I can see my current location (only coordinates).
Can I add maps?
Is there a cheaper way to get them (dealer want me to rob a bank)?
Thanks

Tipik, if you had purchased without Navi, there is no way to obtain it, it is factory set during the mfg. process against the VIN. Best you can do is a plug play unit (Garmin, Magellan, TomTom) or smart phone.

Thanks.
So even if my system is equipped with GPS receiver (which it dose, since I do see my location) I can't install navi in the future?

Unfortunately at this time, that is a No. The GPS receiver that is on there will serve as a turn by turn direction provided by the SYNC operator, which is a part of your intro package to SYNC.

They all have GPS for the emergency notification system.

I haven't tried it yet but Sync is supposed to be able to run the mobile App Scout (voice only, no picture?) on an android phone.

Bisjoe, the GPS is for like you stated the Emergency notification, but as well serves as SYNC operators providing you turn by turn directions. However, there is no noted Applink privileges on the MFT set up.
