I drive a S model escape 2013.
and my engine coolant level is almost at the minimum.
is there a specific type, brand, color of engine coolant/anti-freeze for my
2.5L engine.
If you fill it up and it goes empty again I would have it checked out. You are likely leaking somewhere. You can go to Ford and buy the OEM coolant or just go to a local parts store and buy coolant there. I think as long as its compatible with ford it should work with the Escape.
Are you sure its at the minimum mark and just the cold mark? If you overfill it, and it gets hot, it will expand and go through the overflow and be right back at the cold mark the next morning.
You can pour water in the antifreeze system, now should be fine especially with how warmer it is these days. But you can stop by your Ford dealer, if they are nice enough they can top it up for you.
If you top it up with water, just make sure that you don't go far beyond a 50/50 mixture.
Mine is a tad low, below minimum on the expansion tank, in my uneven driveway and cold engine. Should check it when warm ya? I haven't looked at the manual yet.
On my 2015 S in 90 degree weather and at least a 20 mile trip there is little difference in the level of the coolant. On the plastic bottle the difference between the hot and cold mark is less than 1/4 of an inch.
