I have had this 2013 Ford Escape SEL 2.0 for about 4 months/ has 38k on it. Just this past week I noticed the fuel pump buzzing on cold start ups for a few seconds. I also can hear a sloshing around sound and a clunking sound in the fuel tank area. Seems to be worse when at 3/4 to Full tank. It is very noticeable when I back out of my garage and hit the little lip where concrete meets blacktop then tap the brakes. Sounds like I have big jug of water in my cargo area. At first I thought some water trapped in the floors or something but we haven't had abny rain in weeks here. Has anybody come across this issue before?

My name is Tricia, and I’m the U.S. Ford Customer Service Representative. Have you had the chance to take your Escape to the dealership? If not, please make an appointment with the Ford Dealer. You can find a dealership here. Let me know once it’s scheduled, and I’ll check my resources on this end!
Also check the well for the spare tire! I had a leak fixed last fall (sunroof drain), but no one check the well, had a lot of water just sitting in there a sloshing around.
I haven't noticed a buzzing noise, but I have heard the fuel sloshing around once in a while. One time I even tried manually shaking the car in the driveway and could get it to slosh audibly. I don't think it's a big deal though.

My wife's 2005 Saturn Ion does something similar. When stopping when she has around 3\4 of a tank there is a tapping and sloshing sound. It's the float in the gas tank we think tapping either the side or top of the gas tank. Done it since she's owned the car. I have not heard anything similar in my Escape however.
Thanks Tricia. I have an apt for June 1st. Already checked the spare tire. Everything is good. The sloshing isn't as much of a concern as the pump buzzing and the possible baffle bouncing around.
