Question about Cross Bars

I am thinking about getting a set of the OEM cross bars to add to the roof rails on my 2014 Escape Titanium. I have found the cross bar kit (DJ5Z-7855100-AA) from several online vendors.

It is not clear to me if these bars include the mounting screws or not. One site mentions that I may also need to order the mounting kit (W716332-S450B consisting of what looks like some torx head bolts).

When I look at the Owners Manual I see a drawing that depicts thumbscrews:

Has anyone added the crossbars or have them as a dealer option? Does the kit come with screws or thumbscrews?

I had dealer prices me on install... it was over $800. I have moonroof which decreases weight limit to only 50 pounds. Not worth it for me.

Though we can not officially say anything bout the weight guidelines that Ford put in the manual there are a few of us have consistently have gone over that with no issues. however, if you plan on some "light" off roading with your E, or spirited driving, I would keep my weight closer to the stated Ford limit.

I would call your local Dealership parts dept and ask that question, to install yourself isn't that difficult, as it is just a few screws.

I ordered the roof rack and crossbars with my Titanium. Mine came from the factory with 2 thumbscrews. The rest of the screws are the torx head bolts. The thumbscrews allow you to move the front crossbar without using a wrench. The rear crossbar stays where it is unless you use a torx wrench to move it.

I had gotten my crossbars with the car but took them off immediately since I think it looks sleeker.. and didn't want the panoramic sunroof view blocked.. :)

My neighbor had an Infinity QX4 that I took the bars off when I detailed it.. tried getting him to leave them off since it looked sleeker but he insisted they go back on..lol

I added the crossbars to my 2016 Escape. I ordered them directly from Ford and put them on myself. The kit comes with 8 torx screws, 2 thumb screws, and two crossbars. I did not use the thumb screws as I do not plan to move the crossbars. The thumb screws allow you to move them if you do not want them in the "ready to carry" position.
