I really hope this is Cor-ten steel. I've got the same issue with my 2017 Escape S. It only has 1,000 miles on it, none of which were on salted bridges (I'm pretty far South, and it's been a mild Winter). I'd post pics, but they're pretty much exactly like the ones above.

I noticed that this is an older thread. How have the rusty pieces held up on your Escapes? Is it still just surface rust? Has anyone tried treating the metal with Ospho or any other rust treatment?

It's weird. I have 2010 Focus which does not have any rust.
