gas mileage

had my '14 escape 1.6l for a couple of months now. I took a trip from upstate NY to Toronto right after I got it but didn't pay attention to the gas mileage too much, not sure why. anyway it wasn't out of line or anything. But just took it to NJ after I installed an AEM performance airfilter and got an average of 31 mpg. This included bumper to bumper in Philly and a lot of 70 to 75 miles an hour. Couldn't be happier. I don't know if the air filter made a big difference but it didn't hurt anything that is for sure.

Interesting! I've never seen how easy it was to replace an filter, just watched this: https://youtu.be/M0TEzSMETdQ

Might have to pick this up: http://www.aemintakes.com/mobile/pro...?prod=AE-20993

Pretty exciting, lol.

Yes, it is one of the few things that isn't hard to work on with this car it seems. You need a wrench with a long extension and to remember to line up the slot on the air filter. The AEM filter has no slot so was very easy to install. I would definitely recommend it.

I ordered it, delivers tomorrow (Sunday, good going Amazon). Kinda wondering if I should keep the stock one to put in before dealer oil changes.

They're so squirrely about DIY changes.

I don't think it matters but I kept mine just in case I need the car while cleaning this filter.

Well... I installed it, seemed too easy, lol.

Couple notes:

1. No notch to line up with the casing.
2. Single metal fin/blade, not sure if that is supposed to indicate something.
