Question 2017 Ford Escape 2.0 AWD actual fuel economy #s

Just wondering what kind of numbers everyone is getting on their 2017 Escape 2.0 AWD's. I didn't expect anything super great with mine (I know the competition out there can be much better) but it has been a bit worse than I expected. It seems to be getting the same fuel economy as our 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. It hovers around 10 to 10.2 litres per 100km for us in both vehicles - I even see 9.x sometimes in the Caravan (sorry I'm Canadian so we go by litres/kilometers lol). I think my old 1999 Grand Am GT 3.4L V6 used to get around that even (smaller vehicle I suppose). With the small tank in the Escape it seems like I'm filling up every 2 or 3 days (curious what size tanks my 99 Grand Am had vs the size tank in this Escape, will have to look it up later...).

I drive 47km one-way to work, and drive 90-100km/hr on country 1-lane roads (very few stops along the way and I use cruise control 80%+ of the time). I use regular gas (not premium).

Thanks in advance

EDIT:
Ford.ca says: "11.5 L/100 km city, 8.7 L/100 km hwy, 10.2 L/100 km combined*" <-- for 2.0 AWD. So I guess I'm not that far off? I mean I don't drive in the city, I'm essentially a "highway driver", so I was hoping I'd get closed to 9.0-9.5 L/100km. I even took a 160km trip two days ago via 400-series highways (did 120km/hr cruise) and the number still stayed at 10.0... hmmmrph... 120km/hr too fast? *shrug*

Do you drive in hilly areas- I would have thought you'd do better at highway speeds?

One of the guys from here is also on the UK Kuga forums- he posted his 2017 2.0l Escape city economy and it was virtually the same as mine (11.3l/100km for suburban/ city.) I've got the old EcoBoost.

Thanks for the reply murcod. My commute is mostly flat. Few hills here and there but nothing major like other areas of Ontario might see. The 160km trip I took a few days ago was definitely almost all flat since it was on major 400 series highways (Toronto area).

Very strange. Will be curious to hear about more numbers from other similar drivers with the AWD 2.0 2017 Escape.

I'm thinking your fuel consumption will improve over time. I don't have a 2017 but a similarly equipped/driven 2016. My fuel consumption has averaged out to 9.5 l/100 km over 16.000 km.

Ok, thanks Seldom. I only have about 4459km on it right now (love the FordPass app for Android, can look up the mileage remotely).

Perhaps it will improve. Although I just put on brand new snow tires yesterday so that might cause a hit to fuel economy going forward also.

I have a 2014 2.0 AWD. Bought used with 12,000 miles on it.

I've done 15,000 miles at 23.8 mpg. I run snow tires over the winter.

I've take in it on four, 1,500-mile trips to the Outer Banks from MA: 26.7 mpg, one with winter tires.

Let's keep the discussion to the 2017 2.0 Escape. This is a different engine than the 2013-2016 2.0 Escapes. There are other mileage threads for the 2013-2016 Escapes

Have you hand calculated your mileage? There are also some good IOS/Android apps you can use to calculate mileage. This would be a little more accurate than what the Escape provides in the information screen.

Look and use a site like Fuelly - Track and Compare your MPG to calculate your MPG and look at others.

Thank you for the post. You did not disappoint.

This is exactly my point about heavy-handed moderating I made in the other thread and someone agreed with. Unless comments are 100% of topic to you, you make comments like this continually in threads. It is pretty much why I have given up on this site.

I fully expected you to delete my post and send me an IM that you deleted it because it was not spot on the topic. I'm pretty much done here.

My average is about 23.5. I put very few miles in "City" driving. However, I almost suspect something could be wrong. When watching the MPG display I often see it get down below 20MPG even when cruising at a constant speed. If I'm driving close to 90% Highway I should be able to get much closer to the Highway #s . The car I replaced with the Escape was actually getting slightly above its highway rating on the same driving.
