Big MPG change

When I used to fill up my 2014 escape SE, it would tell me I have 395 miles to empty....now it says different! Pic included. Any thoughts? image1.jpg

So have you calculated your actual real MPG? The DTE is just a rolling avg.

Agree completely!!! Also, the average fuel economy shown on the DIC screen is different than the fuel economy that is calculated either manually or with an app such as Fuelly. Fuelly or math is 99% of the time lower than what is displayed on the DIC.

but why the drop from 385 to 286? Thats like a 100 mile difference. I also noticed my MPG's have dropped from 20ish to like 12-13

Was the change in average fuel economy gradual over time or a large "step" change??

Before you worry about this, I would calculate manually for about 3 or 4 tanks. As mentioned in posts # 2 and # 3. If you notice a big deference, then check into it more.

There are many things that could cause what you are experiencing. Have you recently changed brands of gasoline?

I try to use Home | Top Tier Gas in my Escape. I recently (over Thanksgiving) put a tank of a different brand gasoline. I had been averaging over 26 mpg. This particular tank averaged 23.x.

I am going on the assumption that you are using the same octane level (87).

I know I am missing some things so I will let others chime in with other possible reasons for what you are experiencing.

I always go to shell and always use 93. I have noticed a small gasoline smell in the cabin but it's not very often. I'm wondering if it's the pcv hose
