Dead battery

I did something this evening I have never ever done before in all my years of driving. I left my lights on and now I sit here waiting for roadside assistance to jump my Escape. Rather embarrassing actually.

I'm a little surprised by this for two reasons. First is the car throws a holy fit if you get out and leave your lights on. I should have been very aware they were on when I got out of the car. Second I thought the car turned the lights off automatically when they were on and the battery reached a certain low level. My wife's Saturn Ion does that in theory. Mind you I have an S so perhaps that's an SE feature.

Oh well. Nice thing is I have 2 different roadside assistance. One is through Ford and the other my auto insurance. Also I guess going 30 years of driving without doing this is a pretty good track record.

*EDIT*

All back and running again but here's a weird thing. It won't let me set the clock and date. The clock basically is at where it was when the battery went dead and every effort I make to change either the date or time it just ignores.

You can set up you signature to show the E that you have, otherwise we will always have to ask... what are you driving?
