Arrow Final Post...

Well, I haven't been around here much as there was some logging in issues that didn't seem worth messing with and go figure I made a nice long post and had to re-log in and lost everything. Awesome.
But anyway this will likely be my final post here. I met some good people and some very helpful people in my two years here. But anyway, on to why this will be my final post here... I'll likely stick around to discuss this post though.

On December 23rd I got into an accident. I was on my way to work in the morning and a lady blew through her red light and we collided in the intersection each going between 40-45mph. Here I have to absolutely give props where props are due, FORD. They made a very safe vehicle and had this been only 10-15 years ago in the same scenario maybe neither of us would have walked away. We did both walk away. Both her and myself did go to the hospital to get checked out but everything was fine for both of us, just precautionary measures.

I think for my next vehicle I will not be getting another Escape quite yet. Seeming how I have the opportunity I am going to downsize to a 2015-2016 Focus hatch and with the money saved it will go toward things that are more important in life like paying off student loan debt and saving for a house and/or buying said house. This is the real reason I will no longer be posting here as I will no longer be a fortunate Escape owner.

Well, without further ado... here are the pictures.

Hit so hard my wiper blades flew off... lol

glad you're ok. Focus is good too.

did she accept blame?

consider for your next car a dash cam. Just imagine if she claimed you ran the red light instead and you had no witnesses?!! They're cheap insurance.

Happy motoring.

Happy motoring.
There was a witness driving behind her who saw the whole thing. He watched her just blow the red light and he said he was just praying that I saw her because she didn't know what she was doing. I didn't see her until it was waaaay too late.

I really would like a dash cam and while I was fortunate enough to have had a witness it is something I would like for my own security.

They actually are giving my $18,700 for the Escape + $1,215 for taxes + $120 for registration = $20,040 for my Escape.

That's a serious hit. I'm glad you got out of it okay and you found a witness.

Definitely get a dashcam. I had a recent "accident" and had to fight my own insurance company who gave me the line "We need to wait until we hear from the other party what happened." I hadn't got around to fitting the dashcam from my previous vehicle and the accident was so stupid the other person should have instantly lost their licence. It wasn't until I raised the point that both police reports (mine and other driver's) had him in the wrong that my insurance company listened and didn't force me to have to pay my excess to get my car back. The dash cam footage would have saved me 3-4 weeks of stress.

This guy would have your Escape fixed up in a jiffy:

Seriously, the same thing happened to me in 2005 where an Expedition blew a red light and I didn't see him in time. My Focus ZX3 was totalled and the officers and paramedics were shocked when they saw me out of the car and walking around when they got there. No witnesses so I got ripped off--lost a great car plus the $1000 deductible. Glad you are OK.

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish!

Glad you are safe, you'll miss the power and responsiveness of the Escape with the Focus.

This is one reason I never involved my insurance company at all. But that's also because I was fortunate enough to have an extra vehicle at home as to not have to pay a rental.

Luckily you finally got your stuff taken care of but I bet that was a week or a few span of time arguing with your insurance company. That stuff never goes quickly.. Hell, it'll be a month next week for me and I'm just rocking a shet Yaris rental still..that they are paying for.

What dashcam do you have? Do you like it? I've seen price ranges sooooo widespread it's difficult to know what's good quality and what's not.

Dang... Glad you made it out alive after being plowed by an Expedition!

That really reinforces me buying a dashcam. Now to decide what one to buy.. Any references?
