Ford EcoSport is a New Baby SUV for the US

Quote:
Ford is bringing what it calls its 'smallest SUV' to the U.S. market.

The Ford EcoSport has been sold in world markets since 2003 and it will begin hitting dealerships in the U.S. by early 2018.

Powering this pint-sized SUV will be a choice between the 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinderEcoBoost engine or a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. All-wheel drive will come standard with the 2.0-liter engine, while both are matched with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Four different models – S, SE, SES and Titanium – will be available with the EcoSport, each offering its own set of features. The loaded Titanium model packs features like a boosted stereo system, while the SES model has a sport-tuned suspension and unique style. All EcoSports feature a swing-gate-style tailgate along with 30 stowable pockets, bins and hooks. Two fast-charging USB ports, a 12-volt outlet and a 110-volt outlet are all available.

The EcoSport will be built in Chennai, India and imported to the U.S.

I have that 1.0 ltr engine in two Fiestas. It'll take pretty steep hills without slowing down and seems to have power to spare. I like the engine but if I had the option again I would get a different engine. I think the 1.0 ltr is better suited for warm climates. Here it spends too much time warming up and when parked cools down very quickly because its mass is so small. It gets good fuel mileage when warmed up and on the highway but the fuel mileage drops more than a larger engine does when the engine is still cold or in stop and go city driving. For the EcoSport, I estimate that with the 1.0 ltr engine it'll get between 30 mpg city and 45 mpg highway. I'll probably end up with an EcoSport eventually, and will probably opt for the 2.0 ltr engine due to where I live.

If it is equipped with the power shift dual clutch 6-speed transmission you won't be able to tow anything. I like that my 2-liter Escape Titanium 4WD with the 2-liter and the 6 speed hydraulic automatic transmission I tow my boat and snowmobiles and watercraft. I like my Escape since I have a nice big trailer that I can load up and the Escape pulls it great. The Ecosport while it's cute looking it lacks utility (not being able to tow or pull a heavy load), so I am not interested in it. I rather have a crossover that can actually tow and that is the reason why I bought the Escape Titanium 4WD with the 2 liter was for it's best in class towing ability.

I don't think towing is a big draw for the buyers who would be interested in this vehicle. It's a really small SUV that is really good on gas. It has AWD, so would be good for driving in the snow. I see it popular for people who commute in cities and who could care less if they can't pull a trailer.

I'm not sure that I'm sold on the floating iPad look. I would like to see it in person before any final judgements, though.

I guess I'm still half asleep this morning because for a moment there, I thought it will have the 2.0L EcoBoost. hahaha! I saw the words "EcoBoost" and "2.0L" but fail to notice the "1.0L".

When you post something like this, it is always good to include the source you get this from. A link to wherever you read this at.
