2013 New Escape

Hi, My husband and I just purchased a new 2013 Escape SEL with the 302a package and 2.0L engine. Having fun driving this new car esp with all the great power. On the other hand getting used to all its features is frustrating at times.I am getting used to it now but the climate control has me stumped.I find the manual and how to videos from ford incomplete for the questions I have. What I would like to do is set the temp which I did to dual on 70. But it seems the car doesn't just do it on its own for the control when I get in say from work and its hot or late at night and its cool. If I have the temp at 70 shouldn't the car adjust to the temp without me having to put on the heat or a/c . Not sure if I am not setting it up correct to let the computer take over.Any help would be welcome,Thanks..

Maybe this might help? When system is set to auto, the vehicle takes info from various inputs, (ie; ambient temp or vehicle temp) & from those inputs it will determine which system to use, AC or heat, what fan speed, etc... So depending on what your climate control is set to, it may take some time to meet certain criteria before the system will operate. Keep in mind, if it's cooler/colder out than what you have set, the heat will not start operating until the vehicle's engine reaches a certain temp, so the system will not turn the blower motor on until it meets that criteria to deliver warm air.

Hope this helps.

1) Running the Remote start, the vehicle will take on the various inputs, ambient, internal temps and adjust usually to the 72 degree mark, whether it needs Heat / AC to achieve that temp.

2) The vehicle will really pump out degree of temp once the engine is running optimal

3) The Auto feature is a gradual so pending on the ambient/interior temp. It can start off Low/ or High and slowly back off from their to hold temp.

So I would suggest, to warm/cool "quicker" turn it up high until the chill/heat breaks then hit the AUTO and let the system manage it from there.
