What did you do to your house today?

I've seen this on other forums, thought it might be nice if people wanted to share there other non-Escape projects.

I just bought my house a year ago, so always lots of things to do.

recently I completed two projects.

one was some firewood racks. I've got a cord or 2 waiting at my dads house, just needed a place to put it. My fireplace isnt very efficient. It's mostly for aesthetics.

these racks are pretty simple. 10'x 4'4". it only takes four 2x4s ( i used 10 footers) and some deck screws each. only needed 3 saw cuts each. I did put a carriage bolt through the bottom connection because the load was in tension on the deck screws. I used pressure treated so it should last long time.

a second project I completed was for my old arthritic dog. He just cant jump up on the bed anymore, so I made him some stairs.

I'm not a carpenter, so this is pushing my abilities. I've never built anything so finished.

Nice work. Also it looks like that is a gas log fireplace behind your dog, so why do you need the wood, lol

Very nice looking projects!!!

Wife and I just finished (with a bit of professional help) converting a full bath and a half bath into a larger full bath. The old cast iron tub dated from 1955 and all the associated galvanized steel water piping was removed (or retired in place) and replaced with pex. The toilet in the half bath was replaced with a 34 x 48 shower.

Getting the house ready to put on the market so we can move into our 38 ft RV.

I'm hoping next year we can redo the kitchen and main and ensuite baths. Our only date to the early 80s. My house is almost the same age I am.

The original work in both bathrooms dated from the 1920s. Found something I hadn't seen in ANY house I have ever owned. If you watch any of these renovation shows in DIY Network or HGTV, etc., anytime you encountered plaster walls, it was plaster over wood lath. In our case, we had plaster over gypsum board (precursor to modern drywall). I know the 20s are a good guess bacause the latest date on the label on the gypsum was 192x.

If I can ever find the link my wife did to a Photobucket album, I will post it here.

Edited to add link to Photobucket Slideshow: http://s2.photobucket.com/user/south...ovation%202016
