Ford bring back Bronco and Ranger to North Anerica

This would be pretty cool.

Production of the Bronco is expected to start after the Ranger and no later than 2020, according to a person briefed on the agreement who was not authorized to speakpublicly.

I really want a bronco, or ranger at this point. But I don't think they'll be ok the line until earliest 2018.

The bronco should be built off the ranger platform. So hopefully it is comparable to a wrangler to some extent.

The Thai made Ranger is selling really well over here in Aus where it is sitting 4th in the sales charts which is propping up Ford Australia in a way as local production ends October 2016...

Hopefully they will bring back production of the Ranger to ST Paul, MN again. They will have to build a new plant however since they destroyed the original plant in 2013 after it sat for 3 years vacant after the closing of the Plant.

I've owned a couple of Rangers over the years, most recently a new one I got in 2003. I liked the 4WD part of it, loved the size and capability, but was disappointed it had so little towing capacity. That was why I got rid of it, in favor of a 2005 F150. I think my Escape can tow more payload than the Ranger could.

If they bring it back, I'll be looking very closely at it, for sure.

The article said at the Michigan plant where they make the Focus.

Both would be built at the Michigan Assembly Plant which will stop making the Ford Focus and C-Max families of vehicles there in 2018.

Yeah, they are offloading a lot of assembly to Mexico I think, for the rest of their cars? One article mentioned the taurus assembly could be in China. That would be a long wait getting that car.....

I wouldn't count on them building a whole new plant. Modern production facilities are designed to build multiple models on a single line. Building a new plant, particularly after destroying the buildings doesn't happen.
I know this, I worked at Wixom Assembly, it's gone now too.

Ford closing the MN Ranger plant was pretty stupid, imo... Nothing like having its own power source.... Any who back on topic.

I'm looking to get another SUV/truck so my fiancee can have a 4wd vehicle. I have it down to a Jeep Wrangler unlimited manual or a chevy colorado z71. With this news I'm inclined to wait a little, but 2018 is far away, then they retool the plant, then start production. We won't see one of those until 2019 at the earliest. Ford is supposed to have 20 performance cars before 2020, curious if SVT (or whatever the new global group is called) will get ahold of both

Michigan Assembly used to be called Michigan Truck, (I worked there too) and they built the original Bronco there. It got replaced by the Expedition in '95. Later, expedition production was moved to Kentucky Truck to make room for the new Focus and C-max.
I can see a smaller bronco/ranger sharing a "C" length platform.
