2016/2017 Honda CRV vs Hyundai Santa Fe Sport?

I have a 2014 Escape Titanium. Love it. Keeping it until it drops dead. But my wife's 2004 Honda Accord is on its last legs. She's narrowed her choices down to the Honda CRV or the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. I'm currently researching both and it doesn't look like either is a bad choice, but I just thought I'd ask for some input if any of you boys and girls have ever owned one or currently own one. What were your experiences?

TIA

I understand that she probably doesn't want a Ford, but has she test drove a 2017 Escape? From what I have read, the new Escape, especially with the new tech, is a contender

Anyway, sorry to bring it up as you didn't ask about the FE.

My mother has the Santa Fe sport and loves it.

I come from a 2003 Honda CRV (still running well at 350,000km, now driven by my son - they do last forever!) I thought my next vehicle would either be the CRV or the HRV. I test drove both and didn't like either. The CRV is now too big and I didn't like the HRV's engine. I test drove a Mazda, Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai but none compared to the Ford Escape. I've had my Escape for 10 months now and am so pleased.

2016 SE, 1.6, AWD, 201A, Oxford White, Black Leather Pkg, Panoramic Sunroof, Power Liftgate, SYNC3 NAV, Aftermarket: Findway Mats, Deep tray insert for the armrest.

Thanks. I appreciate the input We've considered every vehicle in the class, just like you did, but she's settled on the CRV & Santa Fe Sport. We may go for some test drives this weekend.

SteveTurbo: *I* am not getting her anything. This is *her* car

jshell101: She's not interested in the new Escapes. (Frankly, I wouldn't be either, but that's neither here nor there :P )
