2013 Escape Battery Replacement??

Anyone know of how 2013 Escape battery located under cowling (windshield wiper) can be replaced? Do the windshield wipers and cowling have to come off first? Looks like a 1hr job for access to the battery. I imagine Ford put it back there for crash protection...but wow! At least they could of put in a removable access panel!!

From what it looks like is that panels will slide out of the battery casing you can take the terminals off and the battery should slide out.

Great question, got me thinking of what to do about jump starting the car too. I found this video on YouTube:
Which shows where the battery is and how to jump start. From looking at it, I'll bet that you need to remove the air intake to get the battery out.

seems like an annoyance if you need to get to the battery. Makes good sense design wise but 0 practicality wise.

Good info! I plan on doing a mild aftermarket audio build, do you think this battery would be okay or would you suggest an upgrade to a 6 cell battery?
