If you know of a recall or service notices and bulletins / TSB on the Ford Escape here is the place to list it and share what it is. I think it would help others in dealing with dealerships when trying to service cars for known issues.
Not sure if it's correct or not, but on my window sticker, under the big blue Total MSRP box is a series of numbers and letters. The last set appears to be a date on mine it's 04 08 13, which corresponds with the April build date on the B pillar.
Just had the shifting problem tsb done on wife's escape. tsb 13-03-14. It has improved the fuel mileage noticeably...has anybody else seen this? The shifting strategy even when the powertrain is warmed up seems better. It doesn't downshift too soon like it used to and it also upshifts sooner under light throttle. It's new "personality" seems to jive with noticing better fuel economy.
Interesting. I had not seen that TSB before. For others here it is: TSB 13-3-14
That is good to know it helped with fuel economy. There are several reports here where people are getting vastly different mpg and I think many of us have been chalking it up to driving styles, temperatures, auto not yet broken in, etc.
I am one who gets the reported mpg...but there may be others here happy to hear this!
I have close to 700 miles on my Escape, and the first week was getting 28+ during a 2-3 hour highway drive, (touching 29 a couple of times) and am averaging 20.X in dense suburban traffic, so also wondered about that. Build date was 4/16/13 so cars built after the TSB date are okay?
New here and new to the escape just got it last week and noticed that both trip computers are not able to display the same Liters/100km ( sorry from Canada ) and not sure if there is a TSB on this issues. Took a 1200 km trip over the weekend and noticed I was no where near the 6.7Liters/100km ford is saying this SUV can get. Had cruise control set to 104km and my trip was 99% highway and computer trip 1 would not go below 8.7liters/100km and trip computer 2 would not go below 9.5Liters/100km. The dealer was no help they said it was still new and in time it will get better? Sent a email to ford Canada waiting on a reply from them.
A/C was off
Front wheel drive model
Just me and my suitcase in the escape
Ok, I am trying to convert it, sorry we are stuck on imperial, oppose to metric so 745 mi, stated 42mpg getting 32 on Trip 1 and 29mpg on trip 2. Cruising @ 65 mph.
Well first off, getting better gas in the FWD, than I am in the 4WD I am trying to just get it over 25mpg (9.4/100km) on all hwy.
If you want them to read the same you must reset both tripometers at the same time. But nothing beats doing the mileage via pen and paper. They say its suppose to get better, I am at 5030mi (8095km) still seeing bout the same gas mileage using mainly 87 oct.
I think my problem is software driving home from work today and my" trip 1 computer" reset the kilometers traveled to 0 at 2000km? Never seen a trip computer reset itself at 2000km.
My built date is 03/13 and I have the quad screen already so crossing fingers they have a better version and not have to fight with the dealer to have it fixed.
Anyone else have this happen to them?
Back to the dealer on Friday to have that looked at
Sorry, I have not gone all the way to the end of this thread, perhaps the answer is further on, but I wanted to reply to this specific post. I can't follow this link, nor can I use ANY of the long list at the first part of this thread. The list says I don't have access to this information, or something like that. This one says the link is not properly formed.
My car is four days old and I'm compiling a list of problems so some of these might be of value to me.
This is the nasty wire harness failure. On my Escape they replaced the complete engine / transmission control harness. From reading this TSB, it appears the new fix is to replace the spices inside the harness. I hope the service dept has more detailed instructions to perform this fix. A skilled tech has to pinpoint the problem(s), cut open the wire harness wrapping, replace the spice and re-wrap, probably in a limited space area. I am glad my harness was replaced....
These latest TSBs are remarkably vague, or broad, or both. The power liftgate TSB may apply to any 2013 or 2014 Escape built on or before June 12, 2013. You could almost as easily list the individual VINs of the handful of Escapes that are exempt! And the concern could be with opening or closing the liftgate ... hmm, not a lot of other options.
The Sync TSB applies to Escapes, Edges, Focii, Fusions, etc., etc., and covers every Sync glitch or bug known to man or woman.
The engine wiring harness TSB has no production end date, even though this problem is actually one of the few that is narrowly defined. Does that mean that Ford, though capable of identifying the defect, has been unable to root it out of the manufacturing process?
I just came across that one today, and it now answers the issue I had, where I hit the button on the gate, it beeps and does nothing, I have also had it where it did close, with nothing blocking it, and unlatch itself, funny enough it doesn't mention it until I am in drive. so now I get that fixed.
I paid for the trailer wire harness to be put in, I was charged via, Ford accessories site, 100.00, it took them nearly 2 hours to complete the job. So I guess I came out ahead on that one.
Just too add TSB is a procedure to fix an issue that isn't related to the safety of the vehicle, chryslers issue with a tank possibly causing a fire if hit in the rear, as well as Ford 1.6l engine catching fire is a safety issue therefore a recall process should be initiated. Chrysler states there isn't enough evidence that their vehicles in rear collisions burst into flames. Considering they have to repair close to a decade of vehicles.
Anyone know the flat rate time for the 13-01-05? (LED Trailer lights)
The dealer has been "working on it" for two full days now
They say its a huge job installing it....
3 days now and they are still working on it.
Apparently the entire car is taken apart and in pieces
Should I be worried?
The book time is 4.5 hours to complete this TSB
Ouch, I know the book time for my wire harness was 1 hr., it took the tech 2+hours, and then, when I questioned that I can see the wire where the subwoofer was, I was subjected to another 2-3 hrs of waiting (seperate day), for them to re do it.
