Sync 3 Updates?

In a few months, my factory warranty will expire and I have a question. I don't have a "Smart Phone" but I'm wondering if there are any other applicable updates that I should get done before my warranty expires? My FE has never had a problem and has never had any computer updates.

if you can get it connected to wifi it will check for them itself. you can also force it to scan for updates

I have no way to connect to WiFi "no smart phone". I'm not familiar with "forcing" it to scan for updates. Will updates be free, even after my warranty expires?

Looks to me that you have two opptions based upon what your describe;

1. Go to your "MyOwner" page on your PC and download any updates to a USB drive;
2. Go to your dealer. Don't know if the dealer would charge you after your 3X36 but it is possible. The update, if there is one, could take some time 30-45 minutes.

I'd wager the dealer would charge to do it. You'll still get any updates for free via the Owner portal.

It seems that I will have to contact Ford of Canada. The "My Owner" page is not for Canada.

Honestly Dave, if you're happy with how everything is working now, I'd not mess with it!

Given that you don't use a smartphone so aren't into the latest nuances of streaming music, smartphone-based nav or other apps, etc, etc, I'd wager there's nothing in any update that'd make a meaningful difference in your use / enjoyment of SYNC3 in your FE.

Noting you don't have NAV, there's no need to worry about SYNC updates that might be required to support (separate) NAV map updates.

SYNC updates aren't 'tied' to your warranty anyway so that will have no bearing on cost, if any; you can always deal with it later (either DIY or through a dealer) if you learn that there's something in an update that you 'must' have.

Just sayin'

Thanks for the advice and you have a valid point. So I'm to understand that the only software updates on the FE are for Sync 3?
