  1. Front Recovery Eye/ Tow Hook in 2013-2016 vs 2017+ Escapes???

    Ford Escape General Discussion
Australia- so a Spanish built Kuga with an Escape badge on it. ;)
  2. Front Recovery Eye/ Tow Hook in 2013-2016 vs 2017+ Escapes???

    Ford Escape General Discussion
I'd imagine it's on the side aligned with the "chassis" rail and it would be stronger location. If it was in the centre you'd risk bending that section outwards.
  3. Restrain Control Module DIY Replacement

    3G Electronics, Audio, and Lighting
The gear for running ForScan is really cheap - providing you've got a laptop or mobile phone that can run the program? The PC version of the program is free (free mobile version has limited functions- you'd need to check into it) and all you need is an OBD2 interface that is compatible with...
  4. 2014 1.6l Smoke billowing from exhaust and runs like crap

    3G Engine and Technical Discussion
Welcome to the forum. Have all the recalls been done for the coolant related problems with that engine? Is the coolant level correct and does the engine oil look okay?

  6. Front Recovery Eye/ Tow Hook in 2013-2016 vs 2017+ Escapes???

    Ford Escape General Discussion
It's been talked about before. IIRC someone did cut a hole, you'd want to desperately require the use of a tow point to do that! Here, but the photos are all gone https://www.fordescape.org/threads/tow-recovery-hook-placemeny-on-2017-escape.70730/
  7. 2017-2019 1.5L Ecoboost problem

    Ford Escape General Discussion
Refer here https://www.fordescape.org/threads/2017-2019-1-5-engine-escape-coolant-loss.112328/ and https://www.fordescape.org/threads/2017-ford-escape-1-5eb-coolant-problem.100521/page-4#post-1120882 (there are other threads too.) Ford should know what they're doing with that fault by now. Hope...
  8. Ford escape screen issues.

Wouldn't the above apply for Sync 2 (MFT) given the dates? (Noting that I'm not sure when the US got Sync 3 introduced, we didn't get it until the 2017 update.) Good move as they can cause similar problems in screens.
  9. Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Struts. B4 and B6. (Includes generic info on front strut design change.)

3G Wheels, Tires, Brakes, and Suspension
Put it this way - I wouldn't buy them unless you can check them first. I highly doubt they've got the year model listing right and it also contradicts Bilstein's Euro catalog.
  10. Unhappy New Owner

    New Member and Owners Introductions
Sitting up higher will make extremely bumpy/ uneven roads (that pitch the vehicle around) feel worse. If your tyres are at 35PSI (recommended for my Kuga with 235/55R17 tyres) try dropping them down to 32PSI. It makes a noticeable improvement in mine. There are some very badly surfaced roads...
  11. Battery Replacement - Air Box Method

    3G DIY Garage
You'd want to check what voltage the battery charger outputs with no load (battery) connected to it first. I know one of my more basic chargers would probably fry the electronics if there wasn't a battery in circuit to load it down. My Ctek and another no brand charger can be set up to act as...
  12. Ford escape screen issues.

    3G Electronics, Audio, and Lighting
If you do a bit of searching (not necessarily on this forum) you should come across info that says there were problems with the early build Sync 3 screens failing. I read it when researching upgrading from Sync 2 to Sync 3. I don't know if you'd have any hope of Ford contributing money towards...
  13. Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Struts. B4 and B6. (Includes generic info on front strut design change.)

3G Wheels, Tires, Brakes, and Suspension
Here you go- the part number is to the right of the review stars. https://www.demon-tweeks.com/us/bilstein-b6-sport-shock-absorber-bls24-156530/ The picture is wrong/ generic. They're priced individually and you can get up the freight cost if you bring up the cart (IIRC.) They're quick to...
  14. Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Struts. B4 and B6. (Includes generic info on front strut design change.)

3G Wheels, Tires, Brakes, and Suspension
They're definitely the updated springs/ struts. I'll add a note in my original post. From what Damon Stewart and Mark Boris posted you'd need the Euro Kuga 2008-2012 front springs (Eibach make some lowered.) Plus the spring seat insulator and a suitable boot/ bumpstop to fit over the much...

Actually, Monroe USA now list struts for both 2013 and 2016 with different part numbers and decent pictures. http://www.monroe.com/en-US/e-catalog This is a 2013 Escape strut http://www.monroe.com/en-US/e-catalog/72619 vs 2016 Escape strut http://www.monroe.com/en-US/e-catalog/72751
  16. Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Struts. B4 and B6. (Includes generic info on front strut design change.)

3G Wheels, Tires, Brakes, and Suspension
Rob, if I'm reading what you wrote correctly- no, I don't think that's possible. It would be interesting to try as there does appear to a folded lip at the edge of the platform and it is larger in diameter than what is required for the end coil. Perhaps just to strengthen it? An aftermarket...
  17. Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Struts. B4 and B6. (Includes generic info on front strut design change.)

3G Wheels, Tires, Brakes, and Suspension
Yes, that info doesn't sound right. Do you have a part number for them? It sounds like it would be these http://www.hrsprings.com/pr/detail/hr-raising-sprigs-for-the-new-ford-escape that page doesn't specify which year models, but it is dated 2018 and says "for the new Ford Escape"... Part...
  18. 2017 new Escape bumpy ride

    3G Exterior and Interior
What brand are the tyres and what pressure is in them? I've got 17" wheels and tyres on mine and have noticed the ride does deteriorate at the recommended 35PSI pressure. Running them a bit lower (at around 33PSI) makes the ride better. Your tyres may be overinflated above the recommended...
  19. Bilstein Shock Absorbers and Struts. B4 and B6. (Includes generic info on front strut design change.)

3G Wheels, Tires, Brakes, and Suspension
Further discussion with the Bilstein Engineer shows they can internally adjust the maximum length the strut's "piston" will extend while doing custom valving to the insert. That could be a very handy feature for anyone with raised springs who wants a bit more travel (I don't know for sure...
  20. Where and when was your Engine made?

    3G Engine and Technical Discussion
Euro built Kuga has it as an option. Ford list the plant at Bridgend UK as making the 1.5l EcoBoost for the Kuga. A Ford factory in Romania also make it, Craiova, listed for the Chinese Mondeo. Looks like they're closing Bridgend next year - https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-48533790 , possibly...
