It could be to do with the way the turbo wastegate operates on later model vehicles. My understanding is they're normally open (older turbos the wastegate is closed unless there is enough boost generated by the turbo to open it.) From what I've read, that's to help the catalytic converter to warm up to operating temperature faster. It does result in a louder idle when first started cold.My 2022 1.5 has a loud exhaust when first starting for the day it then quiets down after a little while. Anyone else notice this?
