I've unsuccessfully tried various products to restore the black to the rubber trim on the windshield pillars (exterior) on my 16. Ive noticed the 17-19 doesn't have this on them but Id imagine there are mounting holes behind it so more than likely they can't simply just be removed.. I have not attempted yet to partially remove one for fear of damaging it. I'm having trouble locating a p/n for that so I can replace them. But if its something that's mounted in behind the windshield that requires that to be removed I can live with it....just not sure.

I’m pretty sure that goes under the windshield itself and acts as a shield/gasket. I’ve used back to black on most things and it’s worked

It actually only comes with a windshield even though it's not underneath it.
Try using some Windex or ammonia to remove the white residue, on mine it was built up Rain X wax.
BTW the part you have lifted is supposed to be tacked down, you can do that with silicone and a bit of blue tape to hold it in place while the silicone cures
