Here's a stupid question-

After you remote start the FE, is IA key distance from the FE a factor? ie, does it turn off if you're out of range from the FE.

Not sure if I just didn't start it correctly once but I tried from my work entrance, saw the double light blink (as if it started), went back to my office for a few minutes while it warmed up and when I went out to get in my FE, the engine was not running.

it probably timed out. You do realize there is a timer involved, maybe? I think you can adjust the timer, but I may be wrong. I'm pretty sure Ford puts a owners manual in every one of their vehicles.

I look at my settings the other day. You can set it for 5, 10 or 15 minutes on mine.

HayaiKurum is right. This info can be found in your Owner’s Manual. It’s located on pages 46-47 for the 2014 Escape and on pages 47-48 for the 2013 Escape.

Please view the info below for the 2014:

"Extending the Vehicle Run Time"
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with the vehicle still running to extend the run time for another remote start duration. If the duration is set to last 10 minutes, the duration will extend by another 10 minutes. For example, if the vehicle had been running from the first remote start for five minutes, the vehicle will continue to run now for a total of 20 minutes. You can only extend the remote start once. Some late build vehicles may be able to restart up to 30 minutes. Wait at least five seconds before remote starting after a vehicle shutdown.

We have a 2014 Titanium E. Long story short our check engine light came on took it to the dealer and it was a MAP sensor and they are replacing that. The day before we took it to the dealer our remote start wouldn't work. They are telling us it's due to the power lift gate being misaligned. And most likely a sensor is saying the door is open. (Even though it doesn't tell us that.) they said we would have to take it to a body shop to have that fixed. So two questions...could that make the remote start not work...and wouldn't you think the dealer could align it?

Good day

I have the same problem with my 2014 Ford Escape titanium 5600 miles.
The remote start does not work, I do the steps as the manual says and only turns on the lights and sounds the horn but do not start the car.
Shows no alert the car, everything works fine.
Some of you find the problem by any chance?

It's a safety feature that is in the system that will not allow the vehicle to start if the check engine light is on. It happened to me I could not remote start my car and then I cleared my check engine light and it started.

I have a 2014 Titanium that will not start with the fob. Lock + 2x + 2x result in a horn honk, but will not start. I have already reset the the remote start defaults, and as far as I know I do not have any faults. Everything else functions just as it should, and I am stumped. Any help would be great. I have searched and read the the few similar threads here, but none of them seem to have a resolution either. Thanks in advance.

Wife's 2014 titanium we've owned since 2017 suddenly ceased to start remotely. I reviewed this posting and successfully restored the function by going to "driver information/remote start/restore to default." The fob still did not start the engine when I first tried it 3 times in a row......still got the horn honk that signals "failure." Secret incantations "#%$%%" and "8&@**" did not help either! It was time for me to vacuum the leaf accumulation on the air intake vents and renew the duct tape on the screens I'd put over them (like the engineers should have originally) which took probably 15 minutes. As I walked away I tried remote start yet again and found it had been restored.....awesome!

I've got an Issue: once remote start is "pushed" I see only failed attempts (twice-blinking turns or (if silent mode is off) short horn sound).

To cut a long story short: remote start was OK until my spouse called me: "I see check engine". Don't know where when and why, but next remote start on icy morning was failed.
I have ForScan with ELS, so I've checked errors and got some errors:
PCM DTC P1595:00-28 - remote start failure
PCM DTC U0422:00-28 - Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module
BCMii DTC B1026:87-68 - Steering Column Lock
and minor errors because of LED turns replacement.
All errors were successfully cleared, moreover, I've disconnected battery for 30 seconds to clean-up modules and perform error check again - only mirror lights error remains, but no luck with remote start!
Still can repeat only first phrase: once remote start is "pushed" I see only failed attempts (twice-blinking turns or (if silent mode is off) short horn sound).

Additional details:
BCM has the latest version (renewed in December 2020)
Battery was replaced 2 months ago and once check (long press OK) is enabled I see 14.9 V, no issues with manual start at all.
Al doors are closed, alarm provide no errors once locked - double checked.
Fuel full tank.
Regular start has no issues.

I appreciate it if anyone can help me.

Welcome to the forum. You didn’t provide any details on your Escape. You should provide year, trim, engine, etc..

It's a bit tricky: I live in Belarus and drive Ford Kuga 2 2014 1.6 (ecoboost) AWD - it's an European Escape under another brand. Unfortunately here local specialists can't help me... But I can assure under hood they are equal.

There are other threads on this type of issue. The main thing people are suggesting is to replace the negative battery cable. Has this been done when you replaced your battery?

Even LED lights in the interior can cause issues with remote start.

the entire negative battery cable. I believe it comes with a new BMS. Corrosion on the negative cable is usually the culprit. All I know is that for the members that have posted here, replacing the cable has fixed their remote start.
