I purchased my 2015 Ford Escape Titanium in July, mint condition, but the rear liftgate made a popping noise today when closing, and the passenger's side liftgate strut came disconnected at the top and was just hanging down. It was probably hilarious to watch, while I was at the vacuums of the carwash, as the liftgate kept trying to close and I'd hit the button to reopen and it just kept trying to close as I'd try to hold it up with my head! The plastic connector piece has split. Why on earth is that piece plastic anyway?! I was able to get it together enough to close, but I need to replace it. I'm having trouble, though, figuring out exactly which part I need. Somewhere I read the passenger's side liftgate strut is different from the driver's side? I really just need the connector, but I'll go ahead and replace the entire strut. Is there somewhere I can find an official part number for the correct strut?
