My wife turned on her escape to drive home and ten seconds later an intermittent cow moo noise from the rear of the vehicle kept happening every few seconds regardless if she was idle or driving. There was a slight amount rumblings when stopped. I'm perplexed as to where to start solving this problem.

Most likely the EVAP SYSTEM is trying to vent itself (defect in system).

No driving issues?

She didn't run over a cow on the way home did she?

Thank you for pointing us in the right direction. It did seem to shake if she idled too long at a red light, but when she drove the sound kept going, but it drove ok. She feels like no cows were injured or hit lol. Any idea if its an expensive and hard fix, this is a first for me and never dealt with that issue before.

Well, this was not a professional diagnosis, but that is what it sounds like to me. Code(s) need to be pulled to actually confirm it is the EVAP SYSTEM. Usually, the car will also be hard to start and/or cut-off, especially after fueling.

Usually, it will be the purge valve located @ the engine, but a full diagnosis would be a good idea. It is actually a common problem.

Was the car idling @ that point or was it shut-off?

Once we turned off the car, the noise and vibration turned off immediately. The peak of its issue was when idling. I appreciate all the advice, thank you very much.

You are quite welcome.

Thankfully, no animals were hurt. It would have been an udder disaster ...
