My friend was going down the highway and the vehicle made a whirring noise she said and than lost forward motion. She pulled over. No codes. Had to get towed....vehicle moves only when it is making noise. Doesn't matter whether its in park, neutral or gear it still makes the sounds. Once it warms up it is not as prevalent. The sound was louder after it was towed. Ran the vehicle and the sound goes away for a bit and it does not move at all. Sounds a bit like a garbarator but that's the only time it will move. If it's quiet no moving at all. Any thought? Put a Xtool D8 scanner on it and still no info. Thanks for any thoughts

Check the trans fluid level and check for faults using ForScan and a suitable OBD2 interface.

scanner don't pick up anything
Yes, I read that. I'm not familiar with the scanner and some can't read all the Ford specific codes. ForScan is usually the best for DIYer's.
