As mentioned it's one of the engine mounts. The mess around it is from fluid that is contained inside, the idea being the fluid filled mount is better at isolating vibrations than a solid rubber mount. For some reason it has failed and the hydraulic mount fluid has gone everywhere. They're sealed for life, so you need a new engine mount. It's earlier based on mileage than I'd expect, but it could have been nicked at some point when the vehicle was serviced.

Be careful because mine did the same thing the engine light came on so I took it in and they said it was cylinder 2 so I had it replaced only to get it back and the very next day it did it again and overheated so took it back in. Long story short I had it in 6 different times only for Ford to tell me o need a new engine at the tune of 10 thousand dollars. After further investigation I found out that they have known about this defect since 2010 and kept making them this way. The main ones seems to be the 2017-2019 Ford Escapes. The coolant goes into the cylinder which in turn goes into the engine. I'd be thinking if an engine is running that rough (and for that long that the engine mount has failed) you'd have had multiple fault warning warning lights displayed on the instruments for misfiring and codes stored. The engine is constantly twisting on the mounts every time you accelerate etc.Not unrelated. When coolant enters cylinders it causes engine to run very rough. That in turn can destroy the hydraulic dampener mounts.
So yes this is likely a direct result of the root cause engine issues.
