Hi Everyone,

2013 FWD 1.6: Brought my vehicle to the dealer to diagnose a slip and loss of power in 3rd gear, dealer indicated the solenoid was out of spec and required replacement, a TSB (don't have the TSB number) is available. Dealer replaced the solenoid, still notice the RPM rise and then a slight drop in RPMs, but no power loss, asked the dealer concerning the behavior, dealer indicated this is the behavior of torque lock. Would like to confirm the dealers statement of that this is expected behavior, does anyone experience a rise and slight drop in RPM once 3rd gear engages?
.
After the repair, when coming to a stop, 1st gear gives a slight kick, paid a lot of money to repair the 3rd gear solenoid for another issues arise.

A video is available if required.

Thanks,

Dom

This behaviour could be normal just before a shift event, ie: shifting from 3rd to 4th. The torque converter is applied in 3rd and then just before it executes the shift to 4th, it unlocks....the shift occurs and then it relocks. If this is the scenario you are observing, then yes, it is normal. Our 2017 2.0L does it.

Thanks for confirming Chris, much appreciated.
