Canadian PHEV orders

Hi everyone,

I recently (last week) put my non-refundable deposit in with a local Ford dealership (Canada) for the 2023 Escape PHEV.

I haven't received any emails from Ford and my dealer is implying that all notifications will come through them. Is this normal practice?

I seen people mention that they are getting emails directly from Ford but I'm not sure if that also applies to Canadian orders.

Also curious on what you have been told for an expected shipping date. I was told April 2023

You can see a Canadian one for a 2022 Escape PHEV by clicking "View Window Sticker" here (link may not work indefinitely): https://shop.ford.ca/inventory/escape/details/1FMCU0LZ0NUB24843?year=2022&ownerPACode=B1343
Ok thanks, I realize what you mean by window sticker but I guess I don't understand why you would be waiting for that?

I'm guessing that your order process may have been different than mine, I already got a locked in price and signed contract. how did your purchase work?

I've noticed people here sometimes ask about that sort of thing 🤷‍♂️ Though given that one or two features were removed from the model after I ordered (like the hands-free lift gate) it would be nice to confirm if there are any reductions from the price I was quoted.

We put down a refundable deposit and got a locked-in price, but the dealer said we could test-drive it before deciding for sure, and is fairly confident they'll be able to sell it quickly if we change our minds.

Good point, I would definitely be interested in knowing about the lift gate. Admittedly I ordered after it was already announced and it isn't a feature that I confirmed with the dealer but it is still listed as included on Ford.ca , so I didn't even know it wasn't until reading the forums. We really should be entitled to some kind of price reduction for that.

I also find it weird that the hands free liftgate is still listed on their website

Cool, you got the best of both lol I wasn't able to keep my deposit as refundable, I think Edmonton may not be a big EV city (lol) they still had a few 2022 PHEVs on their lot to sell
On a similar note, did any of you do the Sirius radio removal? Do you think it would speed up delivery at all?

I don't know if it's even offered in Canada but I've been seeing it online, my dealer never mentioned it at all
There was a 70 dollar deduction on my 2022 order for the hands free liftgate feature removal. Showed up on the window sticker. I believe it's about 80 to order the kit to restore it.

I did ask my dealer about it, but they didn't seem worried about. Mentioned that it came up in previous years but it seems like no action is required on our part

I contacted my dealer about it and they updated the order to remove it and my order now shows the credit. More concerning to me, I have not received my second "45 day" email yet and it is now about a week tardy. Makes me wonder what is going on with the Escape retail orders.
Got scheduled 4/4/2023

I guess scheduling comes before the window sticker

The window sticker (generally) goes live a day or two before the vehicle goes into production.
Anyone else hear anything about their orders?

My dealer has been silent, guessing he doesn't have an update but I'm going to be giving them a call tomorrow

Messaged my dealer, he sees a scheduled build date of April 3, which is interesting since the build date disappeared from the tracker
I can't wait until I can see a tracker lol my dealer got back to me, no updates at all. I ordered late December so I'm hoping that they're at least starting to get close to my build
No update on my order in the public tracker since February 10, it’s still listed as “in production” with a scheduled build date of “week of 02/17”. The window sticker was uploaded a day or so after my previous post, but before the reports about the production shutdown.

I’m inferring from the discussion in the various 2023 order threads that maybe it’s already built, but maybe not – it’s Schrödinger’s SUV at this point.

Is an SUV an SUV if no one can physically drive it?

Ford has a lot of problems (obviously) but they really could do a better job of tracking and communication. Even though there is an online tracker, the updates are inconsistent if they come at all and many dealerships are also in the dark. It's like stepping back in time 25 years to 1998. Although no one would be waiting for a custom ordered vehicle for months and months because all of them would be on dealer lots.

At least you guys get tracking in the USA, we get nothing here until the VIN comes from the dealership.

In fairness, Hyundai and Kia were even worse for updates and keeping their customers in the dark. I had a deposit in for their 2022 PHEV's for over a year and heard absolutely nothing.
Are the Canadian Phev's identical to the US Phev's? I see them advertised here in the US pacific northwest.
