Right at 55000 miles the most mind numbing squeaking & chirping sound has started coming from the dashboard of my 2018 SE. It is so loud that the radio doesn't drown it out and it is constant, regardless of the road type. Even the idle of the engine causes the squeaking, chirping sound, (seems like it's coming from the center of the dash where it meets the windshield), even while in park. If I slap the top of the dash or slam the glove box it makes the sound while parked with the engine off. I'm nearly certain this is no longer covered by any warranty so I'm desperately hoping someone has a quick fix. Thanks in advance!
Right. After doing more research online, I'm thinking it might have something to do with the center stack in the dash. Dealership says this is not under warranty anymore so this basically ends my relationship with Ford. I've only ever owned Fords or the 40 years that I've been buying vehicles, but this is a deal breaker. Kind of sad.
Have you tried to just pop off the top cover and re-seat it, the vents and maybe try tightening the screws on the screen and APIM?
It only takes about 15 minutes, you'll be able to find the method for popping things apart by looking for a Sync 3 upgrade video.
55k you're way out of warranty so I'm not sure why you expected the dealer/Ford to cover it and do it for free.
Extended warranty. Thanks for the info. You're a better resource than any of the dealerships that I've called. As far as having Ford fix it "for free" I'll respectfully remind you that the car was not free. I own a small business and I back my products and workmanship for life. Maybe my expectations are too high. From what you've said here it sounds like it might be a quick and easy fix so all the more reason for me to feel like Ford owes all of it's loyal lifelong exclusive Ford buyers like me better than "the middle finger" for a known issue like this one. I really appreciate your help and advice. I'll give it it a try and follow up here for the benefit of others with the same problem and a "thanks again" to you!
Ford's extended warranty doesn't cover fit and finish items, it's spelled out in the terms/conditions as well as the items covered list. There isn't a consumer level car manufacturer that covers such items "for life".
The car was not "free" for you to buy it, and neither is the dealer's service techs time.
As a small business owner you know this.
I've had Fords since the early '70s and remember the days of the 12/12k warranty as well as watching cars rust out within 5 years. The only thing that kicked the US manufacturers from that status quo was the Japanese "invasion" and Chrysler's bankruptcy.
