Hi all,

I have a 2013 Ford Escape Titanium. Over the winter I've had a few instances where the car would get an engine fault on the dash and I would proceed to turn the car off and the code vanishes and it's never seen again. Well, today when I was coming up my driveway it died on me for the first time and had an engine fault. I started it back up and the car shook the entire way back up to the house I never got an engine fault when I restarted it a couple of times.

Is this a tranny problem or something else? Has anyone heard of this type of problem?

dckng,

I want to help you get this diagnosed. PM me your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info. I'll take a look at some options.

Well guys, I have my car back now. Turns out the factory did not put the wires into their correct insert on the main engine harness. They fixed all the wires and put them into their spots and now it works just fine. Turns out they had to splice them because they were short i guess. They also did two recalls on my car, so i think i'm in the clear now. Thanks for your (limited) input.

Engine Fault Service Now

I have seen a few of these posted in earlier models of the Ford Escape, any resolution? I have had it happen 3x now, but always disappears when I turn off engine. This last time the car was shaking pretty rough. Bringing to the dealer this week. Just trying to find out what is going on?

Hi 2015FordEscape,

I'm going to dig a bit deeper into this concern. Please send me a PM with your full name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.

I'm on it. :)

Engine Fault - Service Now

I'm having the same issue - again - with my 2015 Escape. Took it in at 7,000 miles and the dealer said they had to reprogram it. Now it is at 7,900 miles and I've had two instances where this light comes on. I gave the dealer all the info on the wire harness fix that people reported on 2012's when I took it in for service the first time and the service writer disregarded it. Help!

I'm having the same issue with my 2013 Escape SEL. I've had the check engine light come on a few times this year but the vehicle was running just fine. I researched it and noticed that the capless fuel tank was a common issue. Most people mentioned recommended cleaning the inlet seal (flap) on the fuel filler for a good seal to address any EVAP leaks.

Each time I cleaned the filler, all was well and the light went away shortly after. However, on my way to work this morning it felt like I was riding a bull. As I was cruising at about 45mph, the Escape began to shake violently and I got an "ENGINE FAULT, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT" on the dash. Felt like the transmission was going to fall out of the vehicle.

The car wouldn't go past 5mph and it continued to shake. Fortunately, I was within 2 miles from home and was able to turn back, park the Escape, and jump into my other vehicle. The Escape can't be driven at this point and I'm having it towed to the dealership first thing tomorrow morning. Weird thing is I just had the transmission services a few weeks ago at about 56k miles. I always like to get a transmission service on my vehicles at about every 50k miles. I don't feel safe in this vehicle.

About 2 years ago as I was on my way to work, EVERY SINGLE WARNING LIGHT on the instrument panel turned on at once. It looked like a Christmas tree. Took it to the dealer and they found a bad module inside the center console (don't remember the name of the module).
Too many electrical issues with this vehicle. I've had lots of recalls. Don't trust the Escape. I like to take a lot of road trips, but am really fearing taking this on long trips. This is my first Ford and am not sure if these issues are specific to the Escape line or also common on the other models, but depending what happens after this repair (not looking forward to that bill), I'll probably never own another Ford.
