Picked up a VINT-TT55502 ELM327 off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N18TOFB/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Worked very well and did not have any failed to write or read issues. Used FoCCCus 0.8.6 and FORscan 2.3.16 on a fairly old Win10 laptop. I try to avoid Windows whenever I can, but keep an old laptop around just for times like this.

Edit, left the default com port settings with "Auto" and "Maximize speed" checked when starting FoCCCus

Fog Lights

I'm wanting to get a good thread about all of the things we can do using the FOCCCUS.

I'm not going to go into the specifics of hardware (bluetooth, USB, etc)

Just the options that pertain to the FE and their results, if known.

I'll start with the obvious/most-sought-after and hopefully others can chime in from here.

1) Global Open/Close. (This allows you to open and close your windows using your keybog) Requirements are that you must have one-touch window switches for all 4 windows. I'm not sure if you could open/close just the driver window if you only had that one switch. I don't think so, however. Number 184 on FOCCCUS

2) Trailer Sway Control/Trailer Stability Asssit and Towbar. These two are TURNED OFF unless you have the FACTORY Trailer hitch. I turned them on since I installed the OEM hitch. There is much debate on whether or not this is automatically turned on when a trailer is detected. I disagree in the sense that the BCM marks it disabled. Numbers 76 and 199 on FOCCCUS

3) Foglight Function. Some FEs foglights turn off every time the car or headlight switch turns off. Therefore, if you wanted the foglights on everytime the headlights came on you had to press the switch on the dash. Changing this setting on FOCCCUS from "Foglights US" to "Foglights" will remember the witch setting when the car is turned on and off. You will be able to run the parking lights with foglghts, low and high beams with foglights too. As long as the switch is left on. Number 18 on FOCCUS.

IF anyone has any input on the following, I'd be interested.

Emergency brake light function. There is speculation that turning this one will cause the brake lights or hazard lights to flash when braking hard. Has anyone tested this? Number 106 on FOCCCUS

Rearview camera. I do not have the factory camera. I installed an aftermarket one with the lockpick. I'm unable to use the guide lines (Red/yellow/green) because I don't have the factory camera. I'm curious if I turn this on will I enable the guideline function. I may try this and see if it works.

DRLs. It appears you can turn the DRLs on or off. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO FOLLOW YOUR LOCAL LAWS WITH THIS ONE. I'm only mentioning it because I understand the US Fleet cars have DRLs turned on and second buyers may want them off.

Feel free to add anything else you may know about the FOCCCUS software.

With regards to #18 on the list. How do I go about changing the settings, so that my fog lights come on when my headlights are on? Also, can the settings be changed so that the fog lights stay on when the high beams are on?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, It's listed up there...

" Changing this setting on FOCCCUS from "Foglights US" to "Foglights" will remember the switch setting when the car is turned on and off. You will be able to run the parking lights with foglghts, low and high beams with foglights too."

Has anyone experimented with #236 "Steering Gear C Factor" - I'm assuming the "C" is for "Correction"? The options are "Standard" and "ST"- could that be referring to the difference in programming for the (Focus) ST and standard Focus?

The "ST Line" Kuga is supposed to have improved steering- could it be a similar software change?

Hi friends,

I've changed display and radio keyboard on my Kuga 2014 and I need to change the central config by the FoCCCus SW.
I can not run SW properly, see the error message :( any idea how to slove it?
thanx

@FLA242 what OBD2 interface are you using- I assume (from the error) that it's a modified ELM327?

I bought a supposedly "guaranteed to work with FoCCCus/ ForScan" ELM327 interface and it wouldn't work with FoCCCus without intermittently failing. Get yourself an OBDLink MX bluetooth- they're a lot better interface which use a more advanced chip set (but are backwards compatible with ELM commands.)

Might also try setting the baud rate (port speed) lower (un-check 'auto' if using that, do check 'maximum speed' on the Focccus start-up screen).

@FLA242 you haven't mentioned what OBD2 interface you're using?

So ELM327 with a switch?

If what Centex mentioned about changing the Baud rates doesn't help I'd suggest it's time to buy a decent OBD2 interface. (Something compatible with Ford's Medium Speed bus "out of the box" and able to cope with the fast transfer rates FoCCCus requires- like this OBDLink® MX Bluetooth | OBDLink® | OBD Solutions )

FWIW my experience is slightly different - I've got an old identical looking 'cheap bootleg clone-chip' USB ELM 327 that I adapted for MS/HS switching myself. Also have an OBDlink MX BT per @murcod 's link.

Focccus is 'cranky' and often requires multiple tries to fully execute with either of 'em. FORScan consistently and quickly performs with both of 'em. Obviously YMMV.

IMO the issue is perhaps the software more than the interface device - Focccus just isn't a robust program like FORScan in my opinion, though it does offer some 'features' (erratic though they may be) that FORScan doesn't (and vice-versa).

It wouldn't surprise me if the problem is with Focccus or the recalcitrant bootloader file itself.

Good luck!

I tested out my OBDLink MX with FoCCCus and it worked perfectly for me (noting I haven't used it many times.)

My ELM327 ("guaranteed to work with ForScan and FoCCCus") would fail regularly and never work first try. It crashed while writing and left me with a totally dead vehicle- no ignition or dash lights at all. So be careful.

If you compare the STN chip used in the OBDLink MX it's far more capable than the ELM327. The ELM327 is basically running flat out using FoCCCus.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum with my new (used lol) Escape 2013 SEL 2.0. So far really love this SUV!

I'm having a problem with the fog lights, I did everything using Focccus to enable the fog lights and global open / close, followed with Forscan. Up to here everything is fine. Global open / close is working, and the fog lights always on are KIND OF working. I say kind of working because they do stay on with the hi beam, they do turn on and off when I put a light onto the light sensor, but they turn off and not back on after I few minutes after I shut the engine, get out, and lock the doors.

Did someone already had this bug while trying to activate the fog lights?

Thank you!

Hi I tried to use Focccus to disable my park assistance and I ended up with a totally dead vehicle like you said you have had. What did you do to fix it?
Thanks

Keep trying to connect/ write with FoCCCus - even if you can't turn the ignition on (eg. if you've got push button "START".) I was able to connect and FoCCCus eventually wrote everything required (even though the entire dash was dead and I wasn't able to turn the ignition to "ON".)

It's not a good situation to be in. Are you using a modified ELM327 interface?
