The purpose of this thread is to add Intelligent adaptive cruise to your 2020 escape with Adaptive cruise. It will also add an overspeed warning, which can be turned off.

General Information:
The intelligent adaptive cruise mode uses a combination of camera read speed signs and GPS data to change the adaptive cruise cruise control's set point when passing a speed sign. The system also includes an overspeed warning, which consists of a flashing speed limit sign in the instrument cluster. Both functions include the ability to set a margin above or below the indicated speed. The Intelligent mode is activated and the tolerance is set through the sync 3 system:

On lower trim models:
79733

On lower Trim models, the sign looks european, this is not by accident, this is the only style this cluster offers. The grey bracket indicates the intelligent mode is active.

On Higher Trims:
79734

Higher Trims support a USA style Sign, the green bracket with the carrot arrow indicates the intelligent mode is active.

Requires Forscan with HSCAN abilities and a Full License:

FOR USA:

IPMA:
706-01-01 XXXX-XXDB-XX
706-01-02 XXXA-XXXX-XX (9 for vehicles without lane centering)
706-02-03 F8XX-X8XX-XX (May not Be needed 7/17/21)
706-02-04 XXX8-XXXX-XX (May not Be needed 7/17/21)
706-02-05 X8XX-XXXX-X8 (May not Be needed 7/17/21)
706-02-06 XXXX-XXX8-XX (May not Be needed 7/17/21)
706-04-01 FFFC-27XX-8X (May not Be needed 7/17/21)

IPC:

Bonus info:

Using camera only mode:

I have recently discovered information on how to use camera only speed limit information, this is useful if you live in an area with faulty GPS speed limit information.

OR
706-01-01 XXXX-XXX3-XX = Camera only speed limit recognition

So I added IACC and it worked with the limited set of codes
I did see some DTC after I made the updates is that normal?
Also, what does the HUD codes add? I already see the speed limit show up in the HUD

You need to clear Dtcs after programming.
The codes for the HUD add add the speed limit indicator. If you already have it then there is no need.

Got it! Again appreciate all the effort that has gone into this.
Was able to try it out today and all I had to do was turn on cruise control and the speed was already set as desired, cool!

No, there is a setting in the sync 3 when you select intelligent cruise. You can do +/-20 mph

Pardon my possible ignorance, as I'm new to using forscan. I have a 2020 Hybrid Titanium AWD (built sometime in June 2020), which has adaptive cruise control. I was hoping to add the intelligent cruise/speed sign recognition feature, but my IPMA seems to have things in an XXXX-XXXX-XXXX format. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or possibly some kind of translation for what my IPMA settings should be? I didn't want to make any guesses about where things should end up since I have extra characters in my config without asking here, as I don't want to totally mess up my vehicle. I took screenshots of the IPMA screen in forscan in case it would be helpful.

Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to provide some guidance on this.

The 4 instead of a 6 enables disables the start-stop toggle.

Hello, I have a few questions I hope can be answered

1. If I didn't want to modify the as built and wanted to use the plain text options for this mod, what would I need to change? I've read that it's safer to use the plain text options rather than the as built code itself, so that's why I'm curious.

2. Messed with the HUD speed sign showing but it's not a USA style sign, I don't think that one has a plain text option, so unsure on how to get it to be USA based

I did this with mine as I didn't want to mess with the ASBUILT and mess something up. I just went through each of the modules (IPMA, IPC & APIM) and just enabled everything that was related to the intelligent cruise control. I already had the ACC, just not IACC, so I only had to go through and enable a couple of things on each module.

Do you know what all you enabled between the modules to get IACC to work as well as any other things?

So I’m having an issue, everything shows up correctly on my IPC and infotainment, however no speed limit sign will show up on my IPC or in my infotainment. Thoughts? In IPMA I changed 701-01-01 and 701-01-02, do I need more coding?

I have a 2022 titanium PHEV and already have those options in my APIM so I’m assuming I already have these features from the factory… that said I feel like the sign recognization camera isn’t working fully with my dash.

While on back roads in my area that do not have GPS speed signs, I will frequently pass clearly visible speed limit signs on the road and while the HUD will display the speed, my digital dash will not. In more well known areas the dash will show the US style sign but I feel like it’s feeding off GPS data at that point?

Also, if I go past the speed limit the HUD will turn my speed red but nothing happens on the dash. The US style sign stays solid.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Hello, I live in Argentina and own a 2022 Escape Hybrid Titanium made in USA. Titanium trim already comes with ACC & TSR activated.
Thanks for this post I enabled IACC on my car and seems to works fine.

There is only a litlle (big) problem... here trucks, buses and other utility vehicles have a sign on their back showing their maximum allowed speed (see pic). So when I pass such a vehicle the TSR reads that sign and changes the speed limit of the IACC... I may be driving on a residential street with maximum 40 km/h and the TSR might read a 110 km/h sign from a parked pick-up... so imagine what can happen ;-)

Is there any way to have IACC only use the speeds from the Navigation instead of the ones read by the camera?
