Apparently the convenience cord that came with my 2022 PHEV supports 240 V charging… I’m just wondering, why would I invest into an L2 charger? Wouldn’t it just makes sense for me to mount my convenience cord instead of spending another $800?

800$? Just a get 6-20r circuit installed and use a 6-20p charger, 16a @ 240 will charger faster and also help with preheat in the winter.

That's interesting that yours does 240v. Mine only does 120 in the US.

No, they all do 240 if you have a 240 charger.

My Escape PHEV here in the USA came with a Level 1 charger that is rated at 120V and 12A (see photo). I have no reason to believe it would be any different in Canada. Look at the specifications on the back of your charger.

Right, a level 2 charger costs about 200$ in my garage I installed two of these plugs:

On the left side, a Nema 6-20R which has 240v at 20amps.

Did you make a cord that would fit and J1772 plug on other end?
