According to Ford, the 2013 Escape is suppose to get 22MPG city and 30MPG highway. As we all know these numbers can vary, all depending on your driving style, cargo, passengers, maintenance (e.x. tire pressure) and more.

Post, discuss and compare your REAL WORLD gas mileage numbers here. Don't forget to include anything that may result in a better or worse gas mileage rating!

i wonder if we will have to wait after the engine break-in period to get the mpg rating stated on paper. i know some engines do require this, same goes for power.

Own FWD SEL. Had it since mid-August. 2,300 miles. Currently get great mileage around town (24) and actually slightly LESS on the Interstate. Highway speed here in Wyoming is 75. I do that and nothing more. Interested in knowing how others are doing with similar machine. Thanks.

Surprised even with 2 300 miles, way past the engine break-in, your getting less than 24 on the interstate. Keep us posted on your highway MPG, maybe it will improve.

Have 1000 miles on my 3 week old Escape S with 2.5L engine. Estimated mileage on info screen started out reading 2.2 mpg but has now "increased" to 2.6. Driving ratio is about 60% Hwy (60-70mph) & 40% about town. The manual says the break-in period is at 1000 miles, but a true reading of the mpg should be between 2-3000 miles. Not sure if this is p.r. stuff or if the mpg can improve to the 25-26 mpg overall rating I was hoping to get. I will however check actual figures after the 2000 mark rather than use the infor screen & give a report afterwards. So far though, this is not making me a happy camper.

Further report on mpg

Again, sorry for the typo on mileage. I'm glad I made your day rhfd, but I'm a senior in my 70's and not too good at this blogging stuff..O.K.? But to report further on my posting: I' now at 1200 miles & my mpg has upped to 24.9 with the same 60/40 driving mix. So I guess the manual directive about waiting till 2-3000 miles to get a true reading is correct. I expect it will just get better...and I'm starting to feel better myself. I still love the vehicle and very much satisfied with my purchase. The base model has all the equipment I need. In my younger days I would have opted for more power & equipment!

thanks for the report on your escape rico
i was concerned about how quickly the mpg's would crawl up to what it's rated for, seems like your on the right path to seeing it at the 2000-3000 mile mark.

how often are you driving your escape? everyday?

Yes, driving pretty much every day. What I failed to mention is that I'm now calculating mileage manually and not relying on info screen. I've done that on last two fill-ups and find a difference of about 1.2 mpg over what the info screen reads. Again...the manual says this info is calculated using various factors (whatever that supposed to mean). I'll just have to wait awhile longer to see if these "factors" catch up to the real world calculations we've all been using for years. If I don't see that happening after 3500 - 4000 miles, I'll take it in to check the screen.

Mileage Escapes Me

I have to say so far I am not only dissapointed in the milage I have been getting, but the Escape as a whole.
I have a Titanium FWD, just hit 1000 miles two weeks ago, has been in the shop since for front end noises and is waiting on parts.
I was getting about 19 to 23 in mixed driving, but thats driving like a puss and making a hard effort to get those numbers.
I can say that as the miles have gone up the mailage did as well, but none the less it is still a little dissapointing.
The milage of this car was my #1 main reason for buying it.

I have 4WD SEL with 2.0. Only have about 700 miles on mine. I drive 60 miles a day for my commute to work. Currently I'm banking 22.6 MPG. Mostly highway miles.
