If you could select the Sport mode before the shifter cable bushing 'fix' it stands to reason it has not been installed correctly.
I would be contacting Ford customer service advising of the situation and the fact that the next booking is 5 months away at this particular dealer. They may contact the dealer or suggest trying another dealer.
