USB message Response:

It doesn't show anything at all when I do. It's as if it's not readable, but it's readable on my laptop, so I confirmed that it works.
Check that you have all the files on the drive correctly, and in the correct locations.

Just in case, have you checked if the noindex file is present as well?, Because, I don't know why nor how, but one of the times I downloaded the update, the file was not present and did not start, and, as far as I know, not being an expert at all, that file should be in the usb drive so that sync does not try to index it as if it was an audio drive.
Hope it can be helpful.

I'm not certain, but it has properly updated with the new 3.0 drive, praise Jesus!

Yes! It was my mistake. I did not see you had solved the problem by updating to 3.0 and only realised it after sending my message.
That you have found a solution is what really counts.

UofM, you seem to be the guru. I've got a 2016 F150 on version 1, no errors but the "Updating System Software message" displays for up to 1hr 40min (that's as long as I had patience for). The USB stick flashes for about 12-13 minutes, then goes solid (no activity). I've tried two different USB sticks, did a full reformat, re-downloaded files etc.

1) What error do you see? - hangs on Updating System Software
2) When? - Right after plugging in USB
3) Have you tried anything on your own to fix it, e.g. install a different package? - re-downloaded files from owner.ford.com, tried multiple USB sticks, master reset between each try.
4) Vehicle model year - 2016 F150
5) Region, in case your from across the pond/s. NA

My lst file:

Check the IVSU Versions info first to see what, if anything, actually ended up installing. Instructions are earlier in thread.

You see this for a map update or regular software update?

Hello UofMEngineer,

The following the .lst file:

; SYNC3 Consumer Assembly Upgrade - Release 3.0.25 - Only for Nav/NA assemblies.

[SYNCGen3.0_3.0.20204_PRODUCT]
Item1 = HB5T-14G386-THB

Item6 = GB5T-14G386-AC

If you have any suggestions at all I would be grateful, thank you!

Map update the latest 8.2gb
Hmm. I think others have used the Gracenote delete utility to make extra space. You could try that perhaps. Not sure why it's running out of space though as it should delete the nav voice data right away.

Have you tried to re-download in case somehow a file was corrupted? It's one place to start.

Tried everything, different drives, downloads, Windows and Mac machines...same error message every time o_O Found a 3rd party installer / updater and it finally took. Got a newer version of maps to boot.

Thank you kindly for your reply.

So, since this seems to be depressingly common, I figured I'd make a separate thread for it to avoid further clogging of other threads. If you're having trouble updating to v3.0 (or any version really), shoot me a PM or ask with the details of:

1) What error do you see? MEM_ERRO3 error
2) When? After clicking "continue" on the update
3) Have you tried anything on your own to fix it, e.g. install a different package? No all files remained untouched from the Ford website, but I ran the installs in 3 or 4 phases. The previous phases completed successfully. This is the one that produced the error.

Do you still see a Gracenote version listed in the Settings screen? You can use one of the regular Ford updates to delete Gracenote to make space for the update. Map updates should automatically make room by deleting the Nav Voice data before starting the update.

Hi there! I'm trying to update from version 1.0 build 15139 on my 2016 expedition with navigation. Followed the directions from the Ford site to a T and tried other things as well. Info below:

1) What error do you see? No error, just seemingly forever stuck on the "updating system software" in the black bar at the top of the display. It won't ever finish, even after two hours.
2) When? Updating software message appears as soon as I plug in the usb drive
3) Have you tried anything on your own to fix it, e.g. install a different package? I have tried two different usb sticks, one a 64gb usb 3.0 and the other a 32gb usb 2.0. Tried fresh downloads straight from the Ford site on both. Tried multiple times and did the master reset before each one. Tried reformatting to exfat, and even fat32 formatting. Same results, just a lot of wasted gas.
4) Vehicle model year: 2016 expedition w/nav
5) Region, in case your from across the pond/s. USA

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

More info to add to my post above:

Here's my autoinstall file:

; SYNC3 Consumer Assembly Upgrade - Release 3.0.25 - Only for Nav/NA assemblies.

[SYNCGen3.0_3.0.20204_PRODUCT]
Item1 = HB5T-14G386-THB
Open1 = SyncMyRide\HB5T-14G386-THB.tar.gz
Item2 = HB5T-14G386-TCC
Open2 = SyncMyRide\HB5T-14G386-TCC.tar.gz
Item3 = JR3T-14G391-CE
Open3 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G391-CE.tar.gz
Item4 = JR3T-14G381-AX
Open4 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G381-AX.tar.gz
Item5 = JR3T-14G423-CB
Open5 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G423-CB.tar.gz
Item6 = GB5T-14G386-AC
Open6 = SyncMyRide\GB5T-14G386-AC.tar.gz
Options = AutoInstall,Delay

I tried the "install half at a time" trick yesterday and was able to get part of it installed by commenting out files 4-6 as shown here:

; SYNC3 Consumer Assembly Upgrade - Release 3.0.25 - Only for Nav/NA assemblies.

[SYNCGen3.0_3.0.20204_PRODUCT]
Item1 = HB5T-14G386-THB
Open1 = SyncMyRide\HB5T-14G386-THB.tar.gz
Item2 = HB5T-14G386-TCC
Open2 = SyncMyRide\HB5T-14G386-TCC.tar.gz
Item3 = JR3T-14G391-CE
Open3 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G391-CE.tar.gz
; Item4 = JR3T-14G381-AX
; Open4 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G381-AX.tar.gz
; Item5 = JR3T-14G423-CB
; Open5 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G423-CB.tar.gz
; Item6 = GB5T-14G386-AC
; Open6 = SyncMyRide\GB5T-14G386-AC.tar.gz
; Options = AutoInstall,Delay

I then tried installing the last half by commenting out the first half but I keep getting a "bad installation file" error. I tried breaking it up further and only installing one at a time but each time results in the same error.

At this point, nothing on my system version screen has changed or been removed:
79103

The only thing that changed is in the IVSU versions screen, there's a JR3T line item showing up that wasnt there before:
79104

Am i doing this workaround right? Any feedback or help would be great! Thanks!
