Good day everyone! My wife does a lot of traveling for book sales, and we are getting very low on storage space inside the escape. It is a 2014 S model. I wanted to look into installing roof rails and a rack. I read some of the previous posts on here that mentioned you may or may not have holes drilled for them. Unfortunately it would appear I do not have them, but there are indents where they should be. Is this the normal look for when you do not have them? I poked at it a bit with a screw driver and it is solid roof material, not a colored cap or silicone like I was hoping.

Should I proceed to find out how to drill the holes myself? Should I trust another type of roof rack that can use the two holes that are present only? (If that exists) Or is there some detail I am missing about how this all works that I can be enlightened to? Anyway, thank you, I figured if anyone could tell me, it would be this community!

The easiest way to go about it IMO would be decide on the roof rack kit you want (FORD or aftermarket) and see if you can source the INSTALL INSTRUCTION SHEET separately.

That will give you an idea of what needs to be done.

I have also read where the subject is described on YouTube. Might try a SEARCH there,
