The 4th Gen Escape (I lease the 3rd Gen 2019 SE Sport Model $416 per month) and was looking at the 4th gen. I generally only like the updated models of the current models. Such as I hated the 3rd gen 2013-2016 Escape and my first Escape was a 2017 base S model that I kept for 2.5 years and traded in for a 2019 SE Sport. Now my lease is up in 9 months and since the 4th gen been out for like 3 years its getting old. When will the updated Mid Model Refresh aka Facelift be out? I also like the Bronco Sport that looks like by old 1987 Ford BroncoII XLT. But when will the updated model of the Bronco Sport be out as well?

Also since Ford is bringing back the older names, Bronco (really should be BroncoIII, Maverick, etc) should Ford bring back the Pinto? I think the Pinto got a bad rap as it did not explode any more than any other car for its time. I would love to have the Escape renamed to Pinto and have all Fords named after Horses. And yes both my parents had Pintos... original early model and later one with the updated sexy look of the square headlights. (Dam i do love the mid cycle model refreshes, they just get me all giddy with excitement for yesteryear) The Pinto wagon was an early crossover just like the Escort (why no lady of the night model in all black?) and don't forget the focus wagon. Its time for Pinto to rise again.

Well let’s keep the discussion to your first question, since this is an Escape forum. You can create another thread in the Other Vehicle discussion sub forum to discuss the Pinto or Bronco.

I will vote for the All Electric as that is where things are currently moving towards. The Escape would be a good vehicle for Ford to do this on.

It is about the escape as I am saying that we need to rename the Escape to Pinto as Ford is bringing back the classic nameplates. I think an all Electric Escape/Pinto would be great. What about a sub-brand for Escape called Pinto that would be super upscale like a Lincoln and then move the Lincoln even more upscale.

I also forgot to add that the 4G is only on its 2nd year, so I doubt Ford will refresh it for at least another year or two.

As for the Pinto name. IMO, the name should remain dead. This vehicle was a big pr disaster for Ford. I don’t think they would want to bring the name back.

Well Ford had issue with Escape Fires for the 3rd gen 1.6L, Ford had issues with Explorers and tires, Ford had issues with Crown Vic and gas tank fires, So Ford still has Escapes and Explorers. So there are times when Ford does keep names around after such bad press. Well, Ford got bad press just like the Audi 5000 in the 1980s. The Ford Pinto did not explode any more than other cars of its class and times. Ford like other makers took a risk assessment and found it was less expensive to pay people then to change the design of certain parts. Lets face it all companies do it, GM did it with the whole key issue on the ignition switch from a decade or so ago.

Let’s not turn this thread into a debate on vehicle fires. Feel free to create a new thread if you wish to discuss this topic further.
However the Escape did have fire issues with the 1.6L and just pointing out the Escape had fire issues just like he Pinto, so why not go with a classic name since Ford is brining back the classic names, Maverick, Bronco, and Mustang Mach-E.

I’m waiting for the Grand Torino. The Maverick looks interesting but I think they could have come up with a better name as every time I see one I think of the old 70’s maverick.

I’m not into electric cars so I voted for mid cycle refresh. I suspect that they will likely refresh the Escape for the 2024 model year so you’ll probably be waiting a while.

If I had to guess the refresh will be for MY2023. I am pretty sure I will be looking at electric options to replace my current ICE at that time though. Maybe they will bring EV Escape...

there was time when every model year Detroit would update the cars. I think every two years to three years for a face lift and inside upgrade and why does Ford make you get the 40K Escape just to get the premium sound. Is it that only people who spend 40K like premium audio and those of us on the 30k SE Sport Package dont like premium audio? Time for the next Escape to offer premium audio in the SE and above packages. I can understand base model S for rental fleets but come on. And why does the best engine the 2.0 only come in the top-of-the-line 40k model? Next gen redesign i hope solves these issues.

I doubt that will ever change. Want more features get higher trim. Everyone else is doing it. Though if I had to pay 40k for top trim Escape when I was looking to buy one I would have passed on it. Ford just last year had screaming deals at close 10k off msrp. It was a steal at that time.

Also there is 2.0 in SEL trim as well
