I am experiencing a problem whenever I use the mist function on my windshield wipers. The mist function works fine, but when the control stalk moves back up, it fails to return to the off position on most occasions. It will jump up to the intermittent position right from the mist position. I have never experienced this on any other type of vehicle before and I find it to be annoying. I am wondering what the explanation for this is??????

I believe that I may have figured it out. It doesn't do this on the first swipe, but it does it on the second or subsequent swipe while driving. This could be some type of safety feature.

You're talking about when you push the wiper control fully clockwise? And you let go & the spring pops it back?

I wouldn't think this is calibrated to hit any particular position if you just let it go. I expect it's going to depend on all sorts of random factors--how fast you pull your fingers off, temperature of the spring, dirt in the pivot...
