our 2017 is at the dealer for this issue currently, along with jerks into drive, doesn't go until 2000rpm in drive on cold start and slamming noise from the rear taking off from lights... anyway they keep asking me about the remote start thing and I keep saying refer to the SSM I gave you and it continually resets the settings.

sigh

My 2018 does not suffer from Ford Pass turning off the auto seat heater settings in the remote start settings. Tried it multiple times now. When set to 'Auto', the driver seat, passenger seat, and steering wheel all remain on 'Auto', even after using Ford Pass to remote start the vehicle. This wasn't the case on my 2017. At least that's one bright side of having my 2017 totaled out. ;)

My 2017 Escape was totaled. :-( Serious bummer. Looking to replace with 2018. Does anyone know if the issue exists on 2018 models? If so, I want them to install that patch before I get it.
It has been fixed on 2018s... at least is on mine (picked up earlier this week... build date was 10/1/2017).

I picked up a 2017 Escape Titanium the end of November. Since then the Heated seats are rear defroster and side mirrors will not come on when I use the remote start. The auto on/off for the engine doesn't work either. It always stays on. I took it to the dealer and waited 3 hours. The service manager was baffled and said why don't you take it home and we'll put in a call to Ford to see if they have a resolution. That was last Friday. The service manager did call twice now but to no avail. Has anyone else you know have this problem?

All 2017 with Heated Seats and Remote Start have this problem. There is a permanent fix, the SSM 46632

I'm bringing mine in for my first safety inspection as well as trying to get this address. Hopefully there is no fuss about it not being covered under warranty. Just curious, for the future reference, are SSM's made public anywhere? I know recalls are but couldn't find a list of SSM's anywhere. I'm assuming they are just for technicians? Either way, I'm glad it was posted here so I can point them in the right direction.

The SSM update was covered under warranty for mine. Technically its a feature that isn't working, its just a software update.

Well they fixed it under warranty but it took the techs a couple trys. First tried to tell me me I needed to go into settings and set the default- even though I provided the SSM number initially.

Mine seemed a little reluctant at first but they did it. I really hate it when you go in with a possible solution but they don't believe you or look at you like you have 5 heads :p

Went to get my winter tires removed and a scheduled service and asked that they perform the SSM 46632 update. The service advisor had no idea about the update (again) but said they would get the Technician to look in to my request. The service sheet shows that they did it and there was no charge. I have tried the remote start and every thing except the heated seats works fine. Don't know if it is because the weather has started to warm up that maybe the seats don't switch on but then the heated steering wheel does.

Yesterday I took my vehicle to the dealer to have them fix the issue where the settings for the seat and steering wheel go to off from auto when you remote start with Fordpass. They failed to figure it out so after finding SSM 46632 on this thread I went back this morning to reschedule and right then and there the service writer looked up 46632, hopped in my vehicle, and a half our or so the job was done properly. For some reason they couldn't find SSM 46632 on their own without customer assistance. It seems it's always safest to come in with the insider Ford info on account of half the time some of these dealer service depts just can't find what they need to get the job done...

So a big thankyou to whomever first posted SSM 46632 in this thread!

I hope I don't add confusion here, but my '18 SEL AWD has remote start, and so far, Ford seems to have the BCM/remote start issues sorted out, as my RS settings don't change after a start from the Ford Pass app. Typically, mine is parked overnight in an individual unheated but insulated townhome garage (-27ÂşF outside +38Âş inside-nice). But I have done a couple dozen or more remote starts via the Ford Pass app since buying it new 1/3/19. The Remote Start settings menu has options for "AUTO" (there is no "ON" opt.) or "OFF" for the whole system, as well as for the HVAC system, rear def, htd seats. If the all-knowing BCM detects that the rear window and/or seat temps are above a certain threshold, they don't turn on. In all cases, when the vehicle is started from the app, the indicator lights for the various functions are not lit, and the HVAC is "doing its own thing" until I turn the ignition to on. Doing that, the HVAC goes back to normal Auto functions, but the seat heaters & r-def turn off, though they had been functioning (melt bars on the rear window and toasty seats). If I want these features to remain on after starting to drive I have to manually turn them back on.

Hey guys, I hope someone has seen this before because the dealer will probably say they can't reproduce it. What's happening is the settings for heated seats and steering wheel don't stay set. It usually takes 4 days to a week after I turn them on, for the car to turn them off. I'll probably take it to the dealer next week, but thought I would see if anyone else has seen this. Thanks!

I merged your thread with this existing thread on the same topic. You never mentioned anything about your Escape. It would be beneficial if you provided the details of your Escape ( year, Sync version, trim, etc..). Better yet, update your signature with these details.

Sorry for reviving this old thread. Does anyone have any details what SSM 46632 actually contains? What kind of updates are performed (which firmwares are updated, etc)? Is there a way I can obtain the text of this TSB or does anyone know the details of it?

Just had my dealer do the ssm46632 on mine. Updated a bunch of modules and solved the resetting of the settings.
