Lots attention to this latest fiasco RECALL. My 2021 ESCAPE PHEV is going to continue to be charged from my Level 2 Charger. I am NOT about to cease charging for who knows how long before they come up with a "software Fix". I talked to my Ford Dealer in Boise Idaho and he said they have no new news about when the FIX would be out and that I should just do what I think is right. Frustrated in Idaho Gary
I held off charging at all because if there was a problem ,Ford might say we told yo so and shirck paying.

With the battery recall (what's the use of having a PHEV when you can't pug it in?) and the subsequent CSP for the driver's side seat belt latch, I too decided I'd had enough of Ford's poor quality control. Traded in my '23 Escape PHEV for a 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid.
I was thinking of doing the same thing but thought I would get nailed on the trade in value.A PHEV we can't plug in.

I received an X message apparently from Bev Goodman who is president and CEO of Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited. She wanted me to DM her with the Vin number for my PHEV Escape.Anyone else get this message?

@Salkin Thanks for the heads up on the buyback being underway.

I filed ours today. It was relatively painless. The computer asked the reason for my call and immediately connected me to the representative who took all the info, filed the case and verified it went through. Having the sales contract in hand is a good thing. Then she received a set of intake questions. After completing those, she told me she would be calling me next Monday and at least every Monday thereafter until we have the resolution. I was on the phone for 28 minutes.

My major reason for requesting the buyback was loss of value.

The high trade on our 4 year 5 month old 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe is $6038 less than we paid for it on 12/7/2019.

The high trade on our 2 year 5 month old 2022 Escape PHEV is $20961 less than we paid for it on 11/19/2022. Not counted in ownership time is the six months we waited for it to be delivered.
Where was the form you filled out and is it for Canada also?

I contacted Ford Canada. They offer no buy back program or gas compensation.I was told to save my gas receipts. You can call them to get a case number although I don't know what will happen.I was told a solution might becoming this quarter. Ford Canada 1 800 565 3673

Just an observation after getting the update installed. Had read rumors of the update limiting battery capacity as part of the fix. Charged from 0% to 100% overnight ( 9 hours and 26 minutes) on our level 1 charger and it put in 11.61 KWH. So it looks like that rumor is false.

Where are you? I'm in Canada and heard nothing about a n update,

I just got off the phone with Ford Canada and they said that the dealerships have been provided with the parts and software now and that letters will be going out shortly to the owners of affected vehicles this coming week or next and to wait for the letter before contacting the dealership for the update. I had previously been told in an email from Ford Canada that there would be compensation available for all affected vehicles so I assume it would be similar to that given in the USA
I will question them about compensation like is being offered as a goodwill gesture, Ford provided affected UK customers with a ÂŁ500 fuel card and a free three-year service and maintenance plan to compensate for the inability to use the vehicle's electric driving mode during the recall period . Ford Canada needs to step up.

This from Ford Canada , Based on my research, there have been no official announcements for compensation fuel consumption yet. For now, the remedy for the recall is anticipated to be available in the second quarter of 2025. Once the parts are available, you'll be made aware through another letter. It's possible that Ford may address the fuel consumption at that point.

Completed the 24S79 today at dealer. (took less than an hour) Got 2 letters today, 1 to contact dealer to have update done and also 1 other for the 24N19 battery warranty which allows 1 time replacement up to 10yrs/240k mileage. View attachment 87190
The 24N19 battery warranty ,is that for the main EV battery? If so ,I wonder why they offered that.

Reprogram is done, no issues found. Like others, painless service appointment, picked up and delivered vehicle back to my home. Glad its over. I may have went another route had there been anything else in the category that could be flat towed behind an RV. Hopefully no more issues pop up on these vehicles in the future.
Same here but If been asking Ford Canada for some compensation as is in the UK. Free service or gas voucher.

Yes for the main EV battery. Probably to give customers some protection should the battery fail before 10 yrs from when you vehicle was put in service, unless you have exceeded the mileage. It is normally 8 yrs.
Something different I noticed today while charging, the cooling fan came on .I haven't heard that in the two years I've owned it.

That’s why it’s called the guess o meter. Example: the other day it was around 84f when we parked the Escape in the garage for the night and plugged in. Garage was still warm in the next morning and we showed 53 miles of range. A cold front went through in the morning so outside temps were in the high fifties F. By time we made it a mile down the road the range had dropped to around 40 miles. If we had parked it outside to charge we would have seen a different range displayed. There’s so many variables that go into the displayed equation. It’s truly just a guess.
I'm finding a longer range even with air con on.
