What per cent capacity should I charge my 2023 Escape PHEV?

According to my Scan Guage, the computer in my Escape only allows the battery to be charged to 90% before shutting off as the charge is considered to be complete. The computer also rarely allows the charge level in the battery to fall below 18% before the engine is started and the Escape goes into hybrid mode.

Thanks for the info. But a question with the battery discharge. I have seen the battery go to 0% while driving in EV Now mode before the hybrid engine kicks in. By 18% remaining do you mean the reserve portion of the battery that prevents a complete exhaustion of the SOG? And the display shows 0% charge?
I only look at my Scan Gauge, but I assume that if the display shows 100% charged when the Scan Gauge shows 90% then when my Scan Gauge shows 18% and the engine comes on, then the display is probably showing 0%. The Scan Gauge is always reading the exact amount of charge in the high voltage battery - - so 18% would be, as you stated, "the reserve portion of the battery that prevents complete exhaustion" of the HVB.
