I have a 2022 Escape SEL w 2.0 engine and regular gas, not a hybrid. 6 weeks old and only 300 miles on it. It has the trailer towing package on and took a little to learn where to kick. Probably 2-3 weeks into owning it the liftgate when using that feature to automatically lift the liftgate it would stop at 1/3 of the way up. This happens approx. 1 out of 4 to 5 times I open it. The other times it doesn't do that it does lift up all the way.
I dug into the owners manual and "reset" the height of the liftgate by pressing the button on the bottom of the door. No difference.
So I took it to the dealer yesterday and they reset everything. Reprogrammed it. So the tech did it and it worked fine, then the Service Dept. manager went out and kicked underneath and sure enough it did it again. Opening just 1/3 of the way.
The dealer techs came back said they have never seen that problem before. So they are contacting their Ford Tech. department.
This feature is the main reason I bought this car so that when my hands are full I could open it with the automatic foot liftgate.
I thought maybe someone has had the same issue. Intermittent liftgate opening 1/3 of the way.
The dealer will be calling me back on Mon/Tues.
Thanks for reading.
