Intelligent Access Key issue...

Howdy. I am now to this forum site but not Ford and Ford Escapes (I own two - 2015 that my daughter drives and a 2017 that my wife drives) both are Titanium models and have been fabulous vehicles. Anyway...

On my wife's 2017 Titanium, the Intelligent Access Key fob quit working - well only the buttons on it quit working. You can still start the car with it and use the small button on the door handle to lock and unlock the doors but the lock/unlock/liftgate/panic/ and remote start buttons on the fob will NOT work. I have replaced the battery in it (ensured it is installed in the correct orientation) and still not working. The secondary fob that stays in the desk drawer works just fine so I know it is the primary fob and not the car.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Regards,
Chris

You have given no details of your car model.
Do you have a spare fob you can try like the OP?
If not and the batteries in the key fob have been renewed to no avail have your car battery checked as a low or faulty battery can produce the same symptoms.

Also, ensure you have nothing plugged into your 12v port or USB ports such as a dashcam or phone as this can drain the car battery to the extent that some technology will no longer function.

I had that problem with my 2014 and it wad the contacts inside the fob. Take it apart and check the contacts. I fixed mine by buying a new fob from ebay and put the chip board in the new fob that way you don't have to sepnd a lot of money on purchasing one from Ford and have it programed
