I replaced the CV joints and axles on my 2013 ford escape today. Changed them due to a vibration under acceleration uphills. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Took it for a test drive and the vibration was solved. Good day -- well until -- driving the car a little later, as I accelerated from a stop sign I heard a pop, the engine revved to high, no power to the wheels. Nothing. I stopped, put the car in park and the parking maul did not engage. There is no engagement of the transmission to the wheels in any gear.
I can only imagine catastrophic transmission failure. Any thoughts? Even agreement on my diagnosis helps.
