According to Ford, the 2013 Escape is suppose to get 22MPG city and 30MPG highway. As we all know these numbers can vary, all depending on your driving style, cargo, passengers, maintenance (e.x. tire pressure) and more.

Post, discuss and compare your REAL WORLD gas mileage numbers here. Don't forget to include anything that may result in a better or worse gas mileage rating!

Have 1000 miles on my 3 week old Escape S with 2.5L engine. Estimated mileage on info screen started out reading 2.2 mpg but has now "increased" to 2.6. Driving ratio is about 60% Hwy (60-70mph) & 40% about town. The manual says the break-in period is at 1000 miles, but a true reading of the mpg should be between 2-3000 miles. Not sure if this is p.r. stuff or if the mpg can improve to the 25-26 mpg overall rating I was hoping to get. I will however check actual figures after the 2000 mark rather than use the infor screen & give a report afterwards. So far though, this is not making me a happy camper.

Further report on mpg

Again, sorry for the typo on mileage. I'm glad I made your day rhfd, but I'm a senior in my 70's and not too good at this blogging stuff..O.K.? But to report further on my posting: I' now at 1200 miles & my mpg has upped to 24.9 with the same 60/40 driving mix. So I guess the manual directive about waiting till 2-3000 miles to get a true reading is correct. I expect it will just get better...and I'm starting to feel better myself. I still love the vehicle and very much satisfied with my purchase. The base model has all the equipment I need. In my younger days I would have opted for more power & equipment!

Yes, driving pretty much every day. What I failed to mention is that I'm now calculating mileage manually and not relying on info screen. I've done that on last two fill-ups and find a difference of about 1.2 mpg over what the info screen reads. Again...the manual says this info is calculated using various factors (whatever that supposed to mean). I'll just have to wait awhile longer to see if these "factors" catch up to the real world calculations we've all been using for years. If I don't see that happening after 3500 - 4000 miles, I'll take it in to check the screen.

Mileage Escapes Me

I have to say so far I am not only dissapointed in the milage I have been getting, but the Escape as a whole.
I have a Titanium FWD, just hit 1000 miles two weeks ago, has been in the shop since for front end noises and is waiting on parts.
I was getting about 19 to 23 in mixed driving, but thats driving like a puss and making a hard effort to get those numbers.
I can say that as the miles have gone up the mailage did as well, but none the less it is still a little dissapointing.
The milage of this car was my #1 main reason for buying it.

I have the base model with the 2.5L with around 4300 miles.

I have been consistently getting 24.X around town, never below 24.4 and never above 24.9.

I have taken 2long purely highway trips. One by myself and got 31 whole time. The other was with 4 adults in the car and I got 26 that time.

So I am pleased so far I think. I traded a 2004 focus zx5 and it really just did about the same.

Mileage

I have a VW Diesel 2001 Jetta and I get 50 miles a gallon. I drive my 2013 Ford AWD Escape and I have only gotten 24 miles a gallon. Then to make it worse, the gas tank is so small that I constantly feel like I have to fill up.

The Dealer says that the mileage will fall "in-line" once I break the engine in, however I doubt it.

I too am a little disappointed with the mileage on our 2.0 Titanium, we were getting around 20-21 city driving. With about 1000 miles on it we took a 2500 mile trip, and the best we seen was 26, Not real bad considering I was running 75-80. Back home to city driving last two tanks of fuel has been 18 MPG ,not very good. We have nearly 4000 miles on it now. Stopped in at the dealership yesterday to get the new SD card, that is another story. Talked to the service manager about the bad mileage, and he told me after a few thousand miles the mileage has decreased for a bit then pick back up , that does not make much sense, but will see how this plays out. Our old ford contour with the V6 got 25-26 all the time city driving, yes this new ford escape is disappointing as far as mileage goes. Have to say other then the mileage it is a nice vehicle to drive ,and ride in.

2013 SEL with 1.6L EcoBoost and about 3,000 miles. Mixed driving (city/highway) first 2,000 miles and just finished a 1,400 mile trip to Maine. Getting up to 35 mpg at 55 mph, but only 26-28 mpg @ 65-70 mph. That's using the dash mpg display--I confess I haven't calculated it at the pump. Regular gas, haven't tried premium.

Just filled up the wife's 2.0L Titanium AWD and calculated just 20.2 mpg since the first fillup. Have ~850 miles on it now. We mentioned the disappointing mileage to the porter at the dealership when we picked up the license plates and he was installin them, and he said it should get better in a few thousand miles. I know not the best source. The car is used to commute into town ~10 highway and 5 non-highway miles each way. I've driven it a few times and do between 65 and 70 on the highway and don't putter along getting up to speed, but the wife probably drives a bit more sedately.

I sure as **** hope that it gets better, as I'm not currently impressed. We've always stuck our noses up in the air about the 24 mpg that our friend's Durango get versus the 01 Buick Regal (28-30 mpg highway per the lie-ometer) the Escape has replaced, but the mileage we're currently getting is embarrasing. :(

SEL 2.0L AWD. I drove from Portland to Mt Hood Meadows ski area. Full car, mountainous roads with snow, AWD through much of it... 26mpg! Boy did it ride through the snow nice.

I decided to put a tank of premium in it and take the same trip to Mt Hood. Same route and everything, the mileage dropped to 24.3 mpg. I have no explanation for the drop.
