Here is a picture of a 2013. You can clearly see the hard point.

Here is a screen grab from a Ford video. Looks like the 2017 front structure is quite different and missing the hard point. Or do you folks see something else?

@HayaiKuruma the screengrab from that factory video you posted is of a 2016's front structure, as evidenced by the hood creasings. To add information to this ongoing question, I scanned auto auction/wreckage sites for 2017 Escapes with frontal damage--specifically, ones where the front fascia has been sheared off. Here's what I found, from an SE model:

Pay attention to that left part of the bumper support beam... See anything?
Here is the screen grab I took it from. You can sue them for false advertising. But in reality I could care less about the front recovery tow point on the 2017. My 2013 has an accessible tow point. But hey, thanks for posting. It's almost like you have a vendetta. Irregardless if the 2017's have one, good luck getting to it cause they don't have an access hatch. Just goes to show you how our money is wasted by Ford. Bravo Zulu!

Yes, left hand thread for sure. But much more than that. They are trapezoidal screw threads. They offer high strength and ease of manufacture. They are typically found where large loads are required. Standardized variations include multiple-start threads, left-hand threads, and self-centering threads (which are less likely to bind under lateral forces). Some ask why a left hand thread. I think it has to do with winch cables and how some are wound up.

Looking to get a tow hook for our Escape. Anywhere, other than dealer, to look for one?
Be sure to check out post #46 . Seems the recovery hook is much stronger than the frame.

IMHO, this is why it's called a recovery hook. The front frame is not meant for towing. A gentle pull just to get you going if your stuck. But if you are really stuck in a ditch, your pulling the full weight of the vehicle plus a bunch more.

The original post actually didn't cite the exact reason for it. and Yes I would use it for putting something on my roof among other purposes. So, you couldn't answer my question?
Doesn’t really matter. Your question about the hood strength and quick loops is completely unrelated to the recovery tow point.

Thanks for your addition....
It may not be important to you but it may be to others.
It is related because I would be using the tow hook point for a front tie down for a canoe since there are NO GOOD points below the grille area on these vehicles.

Not worth the trouble of writing any more on this. But this forum would be more user friendly if people were less critical of others' comments.. /forum/images/smilies/tango_face_sad.png
I think what your asking would be very helpful. The point is you should start a separate thread on that subject. That is if there isn’t a thread already out there about front tie-down options.

Don’t be so thin skinned.
