Going with the Michelin X-ice Xi3, having them installed next Thursday and I have also decided to stay with the OEM size and rims. I like the fact they come with a 60,000 km warranty :)

I also think the 18" wheels will be workable for normal winter use. That's the main reason I went with the SEL rather than the Titanium. (Note that this applies only to MY 2013, not to 2014, because the 18"ers have become standard.)

60,000 km warranty is amazing, that could be 4 seasons worth of winter driving right their.

Do you know of any other tires that carry a similar or better warranty?

I'm using studded 215/70/16's because they were in the garage. I've had them on a couple other cars, but they're still in great shape. They're mounted on older Taurus alloy rims that fit fine. The parts guy at the local dealer gave me the correct number for the tpms sensors, and eBay had a set for less than $100.

We're about a month away from actually putting them on though.

I think I am going to pick up a set of Blizzak WS70's for my Escape Titanium 19" option. I'll go with the 17" size. We are entering our 4th season on our Blizzaks for our mini van. This will be the last season with these tires. I think 4 seasons are pretty good for winter tires. I'll replace them with Blizzaks. I also heard the X-ice3 are excellent tires.

Where I live in Canada, we usually put the winters on in October and take them off at the end of March. But we have gotten snow in April, May, and June. Not enough to warrant winter tires though.

I got the winter safety package and upgraded the tires to the xice3 that I had on my 12' focus. They are pretty good snow tires but I must say the best snow tires I've ever had were the Dunlop graspic ds-3,they stuck like glue and we're still amazing in the dry cold pavement.

I think its already snowing up in Canada :O

Better have those winter tires mounted!
Where I live in Canada, we had our first snow fall 3 weeks ago. And quite a bit of snow since then. Glad we also had some warm temps also, so a lot has melted.

Haven't had any issues with my all seasons so far. I think I'm not going to buy the winter tires this year. I just won't go on long trips on the highway this winter.

I'd mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to use 16" rims from an earlier Ford Taurus. The close-up shows the tight fit between the rim and caliper, but it's good enough. Anyway, I think the factory alloys are a cheap alternative for mounted winter tires.

It was my understanding that with the Titanium, you couldn't go below the 19" due to the caliper size with the ability to tow 3500lbs. I wouldn't chance but let us know how they work out!
I am going to look into 245 45 19s as TR doesnt even show a 19" for the Titanium so I bumped up to the 245-45-19s and there they have several selection. Blizaks are $1K for the rubber alone!
Well worth it I'm sure!

I have an escape titanium with 19 inch rims. How will a different tire size change the dynamics of my vehicle? For example, going from 19 inch rims to 18 inch rims or 17 inch rims.
I Highly DO NOT reccommend going to smaller wheels as the Calipers a larger due to the increased towing capacity. 19" are the smallest I have been told by Ford and a number of mechanics, one that is trained on the new Escape.

I'm not sure about that, I ordered a 2014 titanium with 18s and the 3500lb tow package. 2014 titaniums come standard with 18s.

Right, there's no connection between full towing capacity and the 19" wheels. The 2013 SEL, which used the 18" wheels that have been inherited as the standard rims on the 2014 Titanium, also could be equipped with the towing package. In fact, you can also get it with the 2.0L SE with 17" wheels.

It has been mentioned on here already, but why would the titanium come standard with 18" tires size. Also my Ford dealer offers a 17" winter tire package. Not sure why they would do this if there was a problem going smaller than 19's.

I have a 2014 SE with tow package that came with 18" Conti tires. For winter I'm running 225/65R-16 Blizzak WS70 tires on 16x7.5 sport edition rims from TireRack. Yes it's a tight fit on the front calipers, but absolutely no problem at all running 16" rims.

The original equipment Continentals were not very good in the snow, but now with the Blizzaks my Escape goes like tank!

When deciding whether to buy snow tires for my 2013 Titanium, my dealer service advisor suggested I call tirerack.com to get smaller wheels/tires, both for their expertise and better prices. He offered to have them mounted if I drop shipped them to him.

The rep I spoke to was knowledgable and even spent a while visiting with me about which wheels looked best. If I had gone ahead, tires would have been 16" Blizzaks.

While the 2013 Titantium only came with 19", 18" were standard on the 2014s, with a 19" option.

Lol the brakes aren't that big on the titanium.

The 18s come standard on titanium because it a premium trim level.

I have the 19s and tow package from factory. Looks great for summer.

I have 17s with black steelies and dedicated winter tires by Bridgestone for the Winter. 17s fit over the brakes without issue.
